  1. Thank you Prachel for the lovely shout out to our channel MeetCarolas As always! a fantastic video, love your advice on taking care of ourselves from the very beginning, its easy to neglect us on the excitement and busyness of moving to a new country. Awesome call out regarding Real Estate, doing your own research is imperative! To know what you are getting yourself in to, it easy to get caught up on the excitement of buying a home and not seeing some of its pitfalls. There is always good deals for the patient buyers 🙌🙌🙌 Love Joana @MeetCarolas

  2. Wasn't going to comment on this but it is very true re: your physical expression changing. As I've been moving through older content to newer it is quite obvious a level up in radiance, glow, youthfulness, and peace. I know this isn't exclusively the environment and you've made some very conscious health and wellness choices but wow – this might actually be one of the most compelling non-verbal cues of what living in Portugal is doing for you. It is really inspiring me. Thank you, Prachel.

Hi Love, you should travel (out your door) with a copy of your ID… I’d definitely carry my residency and passport. Also, if you gave a car, you have to have documents in it at all time. Trauma-bonding – interesting term but I get it! I most definitely walk away from that nonsense. Terrific Video 🙌🏻💛☺️😊

  4. Really great tips, especially about making copies of all your documents. We need to do that. Enjoying your channel because we are trying to bring more peace into our lives. Interesting what you said about trauma bonding… gave me something to think about.

  5. Several weeks ago, Prachel, I was a participant in an online musicology conference hosted in Lisbon. I was the only non-Portuguese participant, I believe – certainly the only Australian participant – and before formally starting my talk, I uttered the following:

"Obrigado a todos. Espero que todos vocês possam me ver e me ouvir. Infelizmente, agora devo voltar ao inglês."

I don't know what I expected the response would be. But what I didn't expect was what I actually got. The other participants ALL STARTED CLAPPING!

Anyone would think that I was fluent in the language. In fact, of course, I relied for those sentences upon Google Translate. The experience of having been applauded, simply for making the effort, was a profoundly poignant one for me.

  6. Hey Prachel! I am totally insane when it comes to making copies of everything, with backups on portable drives. My biggest fear is not having a document abroad when the hubs and I need one. We are awaiting word from the consulate as our paperwork is currently being processed. Shockingly the excitement is what is causing insomnia and anxiety. We are taking all the vitamins, staying hydrated, and eating salads but the running on adrenaline is what it is until we can actually exhale. Unfortunately there isnt enough meditation or trips to the Spa that will help us relax. We will just sum it up to "part of the journey"! Plus, still being in the States, we are still in the midst of the Countries chaos. Looking forward to not watching the news as much once we're safely abroad. I would bet money that the Americans moving to Portugal are interested in assimilating and adopting Portuguese ways versus bringing America with us. I, for one, am looking forward to leaving so many elements behind. "Borders are man-made" and "do not come to Portugal looking to trauma-bond". I love it. Thanks Prachel!

  7. I don’t mean any offense (honestly I really am liking your videos, please pardon this strange fan post!) but I would benefit more from a balance and sense of clarity in your talks if you brought “America” into the conversation less. If you are finding yourself in Portugal, You don’t need to go back and rescue America at the same time! It was a distraction, which I think is why you are on this journey. Focus on the here and now 🙂 well, so maybe it’s not perfect advise for you but , it would benefit me. I should be on a similar path to you, I am soon to buy a place in Brazil.
