TOUR OF OUR LAND / FARM / HOMESTEAD IN PORTUGAL – QUINTA LIFE

TOUR OF OUR LAND / FARM / HOMESTEAD. In this video, we show you around and talk about some of the things we’ve done and what we have in mind for the future. Hope you enjoy it 🙂

Hi there 🙂 We’re Marc & Allys, a couple of left the UK in search of somewhere we could build a homestead, live more self sufficiently, off the grid and connect with nature. This led us to the beautiful Alentejo region in Portugal.
This video is an introduction and a bit about how we got here.

  1. Brilliant video! I love everything about your lands & home. Does your septic tank system have a soak away? Would love to know more details about this system. The sound of a pond sounds good at the top of your land for drier periods, maybe some ducks? Looking forward to the next vid already 🙂

  2. Damn you’ve got a ton of land and a beautiful place, congrats! I’ve just bought 10ha in the algarve with a ruin and itching to get out there and start our new life… Seeing a lot of people my age also from the UK doing the same on YouTube right now so must be a sign of the times haha, keep up the great content though and Marc never know might cross paths and have a beer over some renovation stories some day haha

  3. Hi Marc, hi Allys, I'm really glad Youtube suggested your channel! Me and my family visited Portugal in 2017 and were blown away by it's beauty. I'm watching because I love the Portuguese landscape and culture, and I am a passionate gardener and fascinated by the phenomena of Brits leaving the UK in search of a life more in tune with nature. I would love to hear what it's really like coping with the heat!!! BTW- I grew up in London, but emigrated to the USA many years ago. It gets terribly hot here too in the summer. Good luck and look forward to watching your journey.

  4. I wish you all the luck with your new house and land. What a wonderful garden with so many vegetables. I grow a lot (mostly tomatoes and chili) in my poly tunnel here in Denmark where we do not have quite the same warm summers as you do, but this year my plants in the tunnel really needed a lot of water all the time. We also had a very warm summer up here this year. Great video, thanks.

  5. Hey Portugueses , acham normal estes tipos entrarem no nosso pais e andarem a ficar com os nossos terrenos que pertencem aos nossos antepassados ? Nem Portugues falam ? Isto tem que ser alertado às compotencias sobre esta matéria .

  6. I notice comments on your video style. I meant to say earlier when I commented that you appear to have your mic pretty much sorted, a mistake many new tubers make is that they do not get the voice pick up right and lose subs from the start as no one can hear them. I could hear everything you said.

  7. great idea with the papayas – i live in thailand and these fruits are almost always available here, even in my gardens. one must. i told my gardener that he should plant one plant every month, then we will have fruit for everyone throughout the year. half a papaya equals a full meal. Of course we also have bananas and coconut trees. only mango trees are a problem, because the orange giant ants like to live in the leaves. terrible animals that burrow into the skin and squirt their venom

  8. I have just found u guys and I’d love to hear more about Alentajo. I have been looking for a farm in Castelo Branco but it seems a little saturated. You have a pretty gorgeous place straight from the off so that’s brill… don’t think we could afford something so developed already but will follow you guys closely 🙂

  9. Wow guys you have been busy, we're very happy that you are happy in the farm, and that you are able to see how much potential that place has, we miss you guys, we have to do a colab in the future hahaha. See you soon! 😊

  10. Great video. You mentioned that you had a lot of rock rose grow on your land did you know that you can create essential oil from rockrose and it’s quite expensive to buy it’s easy to create essential oils by steam distillation. You can do this with some saucepans but it’s easier to buy a small alembic distiller. They don’t cost much and it’s an easy process I’d recommend looking into this it if you have a large amount.. anyway we’ll done on your adventure … I’ll subscribe
