3 Days in Lisbon, Portugal goes by quick. We did a house swap with our home in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, for a fun vacation in Lisbon. We’ve been to Lisbon before and absolutely love it, so this time we did some things differently. Enjoy!
Track Us Down presents our next “Travel With” video – 3 days in Lisbon, Portugal. If you’ve never been to Lisbon or if it’s been a while, then this video is a great start. A short hop over from our adopted home of Funchal, Madeira, we explore one of our favourite cities – Lisbon! Come along as we travel in our retirement!

In October, 2021, we retired early at age 50 and moved to Portugal. We sold everything, and downshifted to our “Second Half of Life.” We are here on Madeira Island, Portugal. We hope you find our videos helpful and a little interesting, as you pursue your “Second Half of Life.”

Lovely video! Thanks for sharing it. I went to that maritime museum soooo many times as a kid. Fond memories!!
9:09 my god, that cloud formation!
Great video, really enjoy watching you guys!
Thank you for sharing
Great video, with excellent ideas on where to go. Your love of history is evident and some great narratives too ❤
You really hit a lot of the places that we went to during our three days – but also gave us a lot of ideas. Thank you. We did a tuk tuk tour but the ebike tour sounds great. Being owners of ebikes in the states, however, I’m not sure how well they’d work on Madeira. Too many perpendicular streets and roads. Our AirBnb was next to Time Out and we found the location pretty ideal – except for the aftermath of the Saturday partying on the nearby Pink Street. One thing that’s worth a visit is the Saturday Feira de Ladra flea market next to the National Pantheon. We brought home Portuguese espresso cups, tiles and some vintage Portuguese currency for my numismatic nephew. In any case, glad you got to do this. We look forward to our own version once we move to Madeira (I got notified this week that my Portuguese citizenship has been approved)
Lisbon looks amazing with all of that rich history! I love bike tours. An e-bike on Madiera would seem a great fit given the steep terrain. You can get a workout when you want, get help when needed, and easily stop to enjoy views or have a bico or garoto. Not to mention easier parking!
Ooh! Love this. Hoping to move to Portugal some day and looking forward to trips to Morocco to dine on yummy dates and soak up the culture.
Great video! Was there a few weeks ago. Always something new and interesting to see! Moving soon…..JP
Lisboa looks very beautiful! Thank you for taking us along 😊
Thank you for lovely video of Lisbon! well done! Keep going x
We opted to grab lunch in the "big room" in back of Pasteis de Belem when we saw several tours show up to enter Jeronimos Monastery just as we were getting there from the tower. The line to eat inside was much shorter than the one to get items to go at the counter. Two delicious ham and cheese toasties, two pasteis de Belem, a piece of chocolate cake, and two soft drinks for under €15. Nice clean restrooms too, which are not always easy to find along that stretch of the river.
Olá Doug & Monique! Thank you for sharing these locations in Lisbon. So much history there. It seems the Portuguese made such an impact on the world's development, connecting the different people of the world together through their explorations of new places. Can't wait to visit these places in Lisbon ourselves and pick up a "stamped" book from the oldest bookshop in the world!
It never fails , every time you show those ( pasteis de nata ) we start salivating
Hi D&M Lovely video. My last trip was during the Expo in 1998! I also remember buying one of the best suits. Did you get a chance to do any shopping? We are hoping to revisit maybe next year.
All the best
I miss Lisboa 🇵🇹. Can’t wait to come back!
We were there last month. Your video refreshes our beautiful memory. Since we landed in Canada almost for two weeks from our trip, we have had two heavy snow falls already😢.You are still in shorts in Lisbon. Made me feel to go back there again😂. Thanks for your video.
Hi D &M. Glad you guys finally have got a chance to get out and travel. Been contemplating a trip for some time to Porto and Lisbon (may be madeira too..) in the time frame Nov 25 thru Dec 9. Since I have some vacation available, have to burn it, and been wanting to, and flights are ridiculously cheap ($410 RT from DC, 12-14 hrs max). I see the weather history and it says Nov / Dec are the most rainy months. I don't mind the cold though. Any advice on the rain history during Nov/ Dec. I am not going to hold you down to it and just to get a feel. Have Fun and Enjoy your travels and you guys deserve it. Thank you.
Love the videos. Thank you for making them.
Carrie and I did the sunset river cruise when we were there in May of this year–so much fun! And we also spent that afternoon exploring the area on foot as we passed the time.
Thanks for sharing. We were just there in mid October. A little wet and cloudy while there but great experience. Let me know if you want to house share in Florida!
Loved seeing some familiar sights from my vacation to Portugal. Got ideas for when I revisit! Thanks
