In October, 2021, we achieved financial independence in North America and retired early at age 50, while moving to Portugal. We sold everything, and downshifted to our “Second Half of Life.” We are here on Madeira Island, Portugal.   5. Thanks for the segment on the Madeira Story Center. Definitely a must see for my next trip to Madeira. Agree with you, that we found the tour of Blandyś wine cellar both informative and fun, and liked the yummy Madeira wine tasting at the end.

  7. Love this! We saw some of these when we were there in May. The doors were really cool. The upright bass player was one of my favorites. Blandy's is already on our list for our next trip, but there are a few here I'm sure we'll add as well.

  17. Great video as always. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief time in Funchal this year, and very much look forward to coming back in 2023 for a more extended stay! The painted doors in Old Town were a fun, self-guided walking tour that we did this year.

  18. I can't wait until I get there and can do all those things. I am doing the hardest part right now. That is, getting all my documents together for the D7. My appointment with VFS is in September. Once I complete that, I will start to do the sale of my furniture and donate other items. Hope to meet you there!

  25. 🤩 an amazing place! I think that tree was a cactus. I saw some cacti like that in Arizona, very old ones. Is the teleférico used as public transportation? I know it’s expensive but I wonder if they offer discounts for frequent users.
