Traveling Around Portugal – Tips & Tricks (+ Where To Fly Into)

Are you thinking about traveling around Portugal? In this expat living abroad travel podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, we’ll go over some of the options and what to do when getting around. We’ll also go over some of the options you have available to you domestically as well as how to travel to Portugal with some of the travel tips and tricks I’ve picked up. This week I had to go on a trip to Lisbon for some meetings and was realizing that trying to figure out how get around Portugal can be a little confusing before you have the basics under your belt. Depending on where you are in Portugal, you’ll have various options to get around locations while you’re traveling in Lisbon, traveling in Porto… the Algarve, and the North of Portugal. Even if you decide to move to Portugal, knowing the basics of how to get around can be quite important so you can take full advantage of what expat life in Portugal has to offer.

  1. After spending a week in Lisbon last year, we plan on visiting the Porto area for our next trip to Portugal. Braga and a train to Coimbra are definitely on the list too. I enjoy your videos (podcasts too!), not only for the great advice but also for the wonderful scenery. Thank you so much and keep up the great work!

  2. Great info. I took the bus from Lisbon to Lagos. It was very nice. Enjoyed it. My friend who has never been in Europe thought there would be goats on the bus. Argggg. I laughed. Funny part …on train from Lagos to Faro there was a chicken! Oh my friend laughed at me. Thanks for tip about overnight train from Madrid to Lisbon. I would love to do it. Or other overnight trips in Europe.

  3. Don't ever use AirBNB the reviews are mostly fake, the accomodation usually is squalid and sticks (my experience) they remove negative reviews and dont give refunds… Still want to use AirBnB go ahead but you have been warned !!!

  4. This is super great, my wife and I are actually looking at moving to Braga from the USA specifically and stumbled upon your videos. Thank you for your videos, they've been super helpful, we've been to Porto, Lisbon and Madeira but will still have a lot to explore. Awesome content!

  5. Really enjoyed the train ride. I have to admit that I kind of lost what you were saying along the way because I was concentrating on looking out your window. My bad. Really the train ride was cool. I noticed you kind of bouncing back and forth. Is the train that rocky? It really was a nice alternative to normal and it was informative also. Thank you.🥰
