The temperatures are rising here in the interior of Portugal with a week of over 30 degree temperatures on the horizon. So, for a quick and easy (ha!) weekend project, we decided to tackle the cleaning of our concrete water tanks so we could see if they could be turned into a temporary plunge pool for the summer.
We will ultimately use the tanks for irrigation but that project is a way off. So, in the meantime they will make a perfect place to cool off in the hot summer heat.
As always, things are never as simple or quick and easy as they first seem. So follow along as we tackle this “one day build” that eventually spans over three days and see what issues we face and how we overcome them. And do make sure to watch to the end for the obligatory “test dive”.
Also, if you know/are a well cleaning company that serves the Sertã region of Portugal, please do get in touch!
The Story So Far
—————————
My name’s Guy. My wife Kylie and I bought this abandoned stone farm building and ¾ acre of land in the autumn of 2020 and have been slowly (but surely) restoring it and bringing it back to its former glory. We’re doing a lot of the work ourselves – having tacked 3 previous property renovations in the UK (DIY style) – and we’re trying to use as many natural, traditional and eco friendly materials as possible while we build a semi-self-sufficient homestead.
We’ve spent a bit of time setting up a no-dig veg garden and building some temporary accommodation (a bell tent on a large circular deck) so we can live on our land while we tackle the building project. Stay tuned to see what we get up to and follow our progress.
