Join us this week as we make our way out of Greece and into Bulgaria, but not without a mini drive-by safari en route 🦩🐃

We’re Chesca and Ben and River (🐶 ) and we travel full-time in our self converted sprinter van, Sophia. After a year of travelling Europe, from Spain and Portugal to the island of Sicily, the pandemic brought us back home to the UK. Along with a secret project! We spent the winter re-building Sophia into a more sturdy overlanding rig, ready to take us across Africa – our next challenge. However, it’s a trip we’ve now had to postpone. But when the wind changes – adjust your sails! We’re now off on an Eastern voyage across to Greece, Turkey & beyond. I hope you enjoy this new adventure as we overland our way East.

  1. Tell Ben there are Water Buffalo in the Cotswolds as well 😁 What exciting news for the four of you, I will love going on this journey with you all. Sadly I can't go anywhere as I'm on site until nearly the end of November. If you've passing Drayton Manor near Tamworth you'll all be very welcome on our Camping and Caravanning site there. Drive carefully, be safe, hugs from Bryn and myself x

  2. Oh, wow – that'll be an epic journey for the four of you – how exciting! Glad that Ben spotted the infamous water buffalo lol. I've been to Toronto but never anywhere else in Canada. The scenery will be fantastic with loads to do and better roads than what you've been used to recently lol. Anyway, in the meantime, I'll be looking forward to your immediate travels within Bulgaria. Lots of love, as always. x

  3. Good luck ! Canada a totalitarian state where anything can happen on the whim of the government. USA a country that is imploding with massive poverty and an economy on the brink. Are you sure about this ?

  4. If you come through Texas, please allow us to show you Dallas and all the surrounding areas! You can park your van at our house lol. We can show the food, sights, art, etc. Either way, hope you like the states!

  5. Hi there from Sacramento, California. I just came upon your channel and I am so glad I did. I have absolutely no words for how beautiful and adorable your canine daughter and son are!!!!! I am your new subscriber!!

  6. Originally from North Derbyshire(Chapel-en-le-Frith), I live in Virginia now. If you need any assistance on your travels down the east coast, let me know and I will do what I can. We live in Western Virginia but have been quite a few places closer to the coast. Look forward to following your trip to the US!!

  7. Ah love the new plans followed a couple of vanlife rs do that route. Epic !. I went to Canada a few years ago and love the states. You can look our for foresty forest, vanwives and eammon and bec.

  8. Had a feeling that you were headed over the pond (any plans to meet up with TTG?). If you are heading to Germany, I’d spend the time you’ve got by taking in Bavaria. It’s absolutely beautiful everywhere you go.

  9. So excited to have you come visit my home state of California, it is absolutely lovely here!! Please be sure to have an AC/cooling system inside your van for both you and especially the pups because it can get very hot in summer. Bon voyage!

  10. Canada is one of my favourite places in the world. One of the few places I could imagine moving to. Also the place I got married and learnt to snowboard. I’ve been reliving it recently as B&M have started selling Molson Canadian beer !

  11. Guys, if you are going to Sofia, there is good restaurant in city centre: The Hadjidragana Tavern, they have a dish with sheep tongues and brains, please try it as a challenge. On your way from Sofia to Serbia, you will probably pass through city Niš: there is a restaurant named Nišlijska Mehana, it is a must stop, and while there, please, please, try Moravska and Šopska salads – best ones in Serbia you can get only around that area. As for food, Ben should try grilled sheep pljeskavica, and grilled lamb chops. Niš is unknown, non-formal world capital of grilled meat and Nišlijska Mehana is among best restaurants there. Aproximately near Niš, there is town called Vrnjačka banja, where you could book a cheap hotel and enjoy in natural hot baths. Obviously, after Niš, you would head towards Belgrade, and I have a nice stop for you there too: a restaurant Balkan Express in Zemun on Danube river bank with sick modern twist food and great views of the said river. Further on, you absolutely must stop in Novi sad (and walk through city center) as well further on in Sombor, where you should look for a river fish restaurant and try Fish paprikash (basicaly a river fish soup), and offcourse fried catfish. You will be amazed by architecture of Novi sad (and old fortress town there) and Sombor, please visit both towns. After that, you could consider going towards Bačka Palanka (some great and cheap fish restaurants there too!) and cross into Croatia to town of Ilok and visit a place Iločki podrumi (google it and you will find out why I recommend it).

  12. Woo hoo. Canada , bring it on. Well done you two, I mean four 😁. Certainly looking forward to seeing the videos this year. Really enjoy following you. Love to you all. Dave and Cynth. Norwich. UK. X x

  13. This is exciting news! Can't wait to see what you get up to. We should be following in your footsteps to Turkey at the moment but we only got as far as Austria before I broke my ankle! Watching your videos has definitely been a welcome distraction. Thank you 😊
