It was time for a dose of normality after an incredible first couple of weeks exploring the back roads and forests of Nova Scotia. Some packages that we ordered have finally arrived, although none of them in the same location! As we divert our travels to pick up our parcels, we explore the Acadian Shores of Nova Scotia and finally make our way to the remote Brier Island – taking two ferries to get there and witnessing one of the most magical sights we have seen – humpback whales breaching and jumping out of the ocean.

↠ A BIT ABOUT US
We’re Chesca and Ben, and with our two pups River & Scout (🐶 🐶 ) we live and travel full-time in our self converted sprinter van, Sophia. We spent the past 2 years road tripping as much of Europe as we could, from the wild coasts of Portugal to the Syrian border in Turkey, tackling lockdowns and a van re-build along the way. But now, we’re feeling like a new challenge. In the summer of 2022, we’ll be shipping our van from the UK to Canada, on a mission to drive her all the way to Mexico baby! 🇲🇽 🌵

Actually, the Acadians were deported to Louisiana, because they refused to pledge allegiance to the Queen of England.
As for the parcels . . . welcome to Nova Scotia.
It is in fact, a "feeding ground" for whales.
I think half of Nova Scotia has left a comment for you two.
I'm enjoying riding along with you from the left coast, greetings from BC.
So thrilled at your videos guys. We Nova Scotians thank you! Praying for your safety and peace out there on the road!
PS I hope you get to explore the Sunrise Trail from Pictou to Amherst! Rushton Beach, the Seafoam Lavender Farm, the Tatamagouche farmer's market, are must sees.
What are the odds they weren’t sold out of rappe pie, but this couple was too polite to give an honest review of how repulsive they are?😂
I recommend the Brier Island whale watching to anyone looking for whale watching in Nova Scotia. Way better being in an inflatable (Zodiac) rather than a big high-decked boat. Great choice!
Love the videos. Safe travels. We visited Nova Scotia as tourists in 1997. By 2001 we were living here. Its been a 21 year adventure. The place and the people are very special. Hearing your comments takes me back to our first visit. Happy trails.
My wife and I will be in Nova Scotia on a van trip starting Sept. 10, we’ll be headed into NS from Michigan, as you are headed out of Canada to who knows where? What tour company did you use to whale watch?
OK you have my total respect and attention! anyone who is willing to split their day for the dogs sake is the best kind of human, Bravo!
So glad you enjoyed “Canada’s Ocean Playground”.
I moved here from another province after high school to attend University, …. it’s been 52 years and I’m still in Nova Scotia.
Are you folks making your way to Cape Breton Island? its absolutely stunning.
we can't wait for the next upload! Where are you currently in our beautiful province?
We were shopping tonight and my husband pointed your van out where you were camping. It was exciting to see you near our home. Looking forward to watching more of your adventures.
We just caught this series. It is wonderful to see NS through your eyes. When you travel through New Glasgow, toot! I'm sure we'll hear you! LOL! Enjoy both NS and Maine (we've lived in both). Delightful surprises await you!!
aww love the whales , yet another super video 🙂 btw im thinking on getting a waterless toilet , how are you's getting on with your toilet , would you recommend it , or would you recommend a cassette toilet + SOG
Totally awesome.
Wow! Those whales 😍😍 incredible footage! Keep on adventuring guys 🤙
thanks for showing us this part of my province. Would love to visit Brier Island. When you come to Cape Breton, you will probably get some fog free days.
Hello guys,
I’m a Bluenoser and I’m LOVING your videos! I’m so glad you saw the whales, they are absolutely magnificent creatures.
Your dogs are so adorable, the little one with it’s paw on the railing looking out at the water was pretty cute 🥰
I’m looking forward to Your next video.
Take Care and safe travels 💕
Saw you yesterday in New Minas. Hope you have a good visit.
He he I spy a Sophia, figured I see you guys eventually going through. 😏
I just came across your channel. I live in Cheticamp, a small Acadian village on the Cabot Trail. If you make your way to Cape Breton, definitely take a drive around the Cabot Trail! There are many hiking trails and the views are spectacular! Safe travels!!
Oh wow! I was pretty surprised to see this on my homepage here on YT as I’m from Long Island myself, and never really see it anywheres lol. Even think I saw your van driving through here but I’m not sure. Glad you had a good time!
I’ve never been to Brier Island but I think it should now be added to our truck camper list. Hard to beat the humpback whales. They can sure put on a show. We went whale watching earlier this summer in Saint Andrews but we were there before the humpbacks arrival.
Greetings to you both (and the dogs) I've lived in Nova Scotia all my life (so far) and I love the series. I liked your info on the French Shore. My original ancestor landed at Port Royal in 1646 and about 110 years later his great grandson and his family (one of the founding families of Grande Pré ) were kicked out by the British. They sneaked back in a few years later and stayed. A quick note about the boulders around Peggy's Cove. 10,000-70,000 years ago, most of Nova Scotia was covered by glacier, several kilometres thick. The ice scratched and gouged the granite and left boulders, rocks and sand behind. A lot of the boulders left behind when the ice receded were carried here by the flowing ice from parts of Northern Quebec. I have all kinds of Nova Scotia trivia and as anyone that knows me can tell you, I talk too much. Any way, thanks for coming to our little corner of the world and thanks for the great series.
Luv this series you’ll find maritimers are very welcoming , i live in Cap-Pelé NB and our province has the biggest population of acadiens in the maritimes ,acadians mostly live in fishing villages along the coast of the northumbuland strait ,right now it’s lobster season here , eventually you guys are gonna pass trough our province so don’t be afraid to stop in Cap-Pelé the smoke fish capitol of the world
hah starts off in Digby, I lived in Digby above a downtown shop, the winter tides and storms rattled the stilts the building stood on, over the water. I loved it and was terrified, all at the same time! I've gone whale watching (atlantic right whales) off the Digby Neck.
The beauty of Nova Scotia and Atlantic provinces is their undevelopment. And that is how we love it and how we want it to stay. Nova Scotia is Canadas 2nd smallest province and the most densely populated province with approximately 1 million inhabitants. Cape Breton Island is recognized as one of the most beautiful island in the world…which says a lot when you consider it’s a higher position than Hawaiian Islands.
With the Propane instead of paying $50 U guys payed $25 that was Favour. You guys have been given Favour any Time in the Future when that Happens again Remember Favour. It has Happens for Me so many Times in Various ways John from the UK
relaxed pace, just like it is down there…a different world. thanks guys!
check advocate out you will love it.
check advocate out you will love it.

"The Dunes", pottery /gallery / lovely gardens run by Peter Jansen and Partner … looking forward to fallowing along… ☀️ days ahead and safe travels 🍻
What a carry on for you both with the parcels – glad it was going to get sorted. The whales must have been amazing – so graceful despite their size – what an experience! So interesting about the Acadian people too.
Amazing 💥💥💥💥hellof from 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
Umm, no. The Acadians were deported to Louisiana and were known down there as Cajuns.
Nice soundtrack music during the ferry crossing scene. You can experience similar live music if you visit Cape Breton.
Great video; very much enjoyed! There are other Acadian villages on Cape Breton Island. I am Acadian and live in the Acadian village of Cheticamp on the Cabot Trail at one end of the entrance to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Hope to see yas coming through☺️
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM0_DegNKWY Please don't drive through Mexico, You have no idea of the reality> Even the Canadian Gov't advises NOT to go there. Please don't. You are an amazing couple but this dream will be your nightmare.
Are you still visiting Cape Breton Park? Don’t miss the coffee shop: Salty Roses! 💕👌🏻
Don't miss Cape Split or Blomidon before leaving the Annapolis valley
Merhaba.
You need to travel the highway #6 from Pictou to Amherst it's the sunrise trail For he best sunrise's and sunset's and the warmest waters north of the Carolinas no joke Enjoy your time here
Most gas stations will have a propane tower where they will fill you up no problem
Finally caught up with you guys and loved the whale watching images. I saw them off Cape Cod years ago and was reduced to tears of awe… I was actually watching whales… 😯😯😯
How great to see the whales, well you will be locals soon going up and down the roads, hope your French works out with thetalking , if you try to speak French they will talk English. Have a great time and thank you for being g back memories. Take care Linda ,Rob and old Sir Barkalot.
Yes many of the French were “expelled” from New Brunswick Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia to Louisiana in the USA. Some rayed hidden in the woods and never left, some stayed with the Mi’Kmaq ( pronounced Mig maw) after the war was over many who were taken down to Louisiana did come back home to there villages also many made Louisiana their home. If you go to that state in the USA you will notice many of the same names and these ‘Cajun cousins will come up to visit their Acadian cousins up in the 3 Maritimes provinces b
Little bit of extra history for you, since you may stop down there on your continent wide travels. The acadians were actually put on ships and dropped in groups all along the eastern coast. It was the english's attempt to basically break up the people. The largest group of them though, were basically dumped into the swamps in louisanna. As you may have guessed now, but the 'cajun's' there are the decendants of the acadians.
I'm sorry you won't be in Nova Scotia end of September/October. That's when Nova Scotia really shows off.
Love your videos. Bringing back happy memories of our visit to Nova Scotia many years ago. We loved it.
