Vila Franca de Xira is a Portuguese parish , seat of the municipality of the same name , with an area of 212.86 km² and 18,197 inhabitants (2011). Its population density is 85.4 h/km².
The parish of Vila Franca de Xira, in the municipality of Vila Franca de Xira, requested the review of the opinion issued on November 8, 2005, claiming that “this autarchy is not reviewed in the heraldic ordinance that you see. Exa. approved, we chose not to use the respective heraldic symbols” – silver shield wavy stripe in blue and silver with three wavy strips loaded with two fish in red accompanied by two crows in black, the one on the right hand turned; in campaign, green campino cap lined with red.
An alternative proposal is presented, which deserves approval.
Thus, it is this Committee of opinion that the heraldic symbols of the parish of Vila Franca de Xira must be constituted in this way:
Coat of Arms: silver shield, red vest highlighted and buttoned from the countryside, surrounded by a chapel of green wheat ears; in campaign two burelas waved in blue.
Silver mural crown with four apparent towers. Silver listel with the legend in black capitals “FREGUESIA DE VILA FRANCA DE XIRA”.
Flag: quartered in red and white; cords and tassels of silver and red. Golden shaft and spear.
Seal: under the terms of article 18 of Law no. 53/91, with the caption: “Parish of Vila Franca de Xira”.
Opinion No. 005/2019, issued by the Heraldry Commission of the Portuguese Archaeologists Association on 12 September 2019, under the terms of Law No. 53/91, of 7 August.
Established, on the proposal of the Parish Council, in an ordinary session of the Parish Assembly on December 18, 2019.
