Great video. As far as the taxes, that 10% is on top of what you’re taxed in the US also with pensions? And do they tax Veterans Disability benefits?
Is the 10% tax in addition to taxes you pay to the USA? Or do you get some kind of break due to being taxed twice?

Never a good idea to claim “financial hardship” with the San Francisco consulate. The point is that you have the means to live in Portugal. So, you have to show up at the San Francisco VFS. Also, it’s two years for the first residency and a renewal for three years after that. Then you are eligible to apply for citizenship. I recommend that people who want to move over there use an immigration service. I have applied through San Francisco and am waiting for me Visa.
