  1. Those olives look great your first from your own land, how fabulous. What great weather you’re having now, looks like you are both getting a good tan now, and fancy seeing the Boar and baby that was great timing. Loving these daily posts x

  2. I’m so pleased you’re getting time off too. All work and no play as the saying goes. 😂 but it’s so easy to just work and work, which isn’t why you came to Portugal after all. Your olives look very good, ours are not great eating olives.. much better as oil.

  3. Beautiful scenery 👍. Freezing cold here in the UK and currently it's –3C at the moment (10:20 a.m.) in Lancashire, but will drop to –6C tonight 🥶🥶, so I'm sure you're definitely glad to be in Portugal. Ah I was wondering about your olive harvest when watching the drone footage of the land in your other video. You got quite a good amount, so they will last you a little bit. I love olives. I remember years ago when I was harvesting all the plum trees that I had in the garden of a previous house. The plum trees were already in situ (there were far too many plum trees, but I did plant other fruit trees) when I moved into the house. Used to get far far too many plums for me to use (I made allsorts with them even damson gin lol), so I used to give carrier bags full of plums to family members and neighbours. Sometimes I do miss living in that house and the fresh produce. Nowadays I have to purchase everything.

  4. Hi Elaine and Darren, when your olives are that high up, you just saw of that branch to pick them, that is how olive trees are pruned! (just a tip) 😉congrats on your harvest!

  5. I enjoyed your video. I think the next tree I'll buy is an olive. I was drooling watching you brine them! We have javelina here in California too so I see them while camping at times. How nice that the river was so close to your home. It's a lovely river. Brenda

  6. Beautiful. I wish I was there. By now I should have been there and back after purchasing a place there, but life got in the way. But now I think I will plan to come over in the spring, look for a place, and heal. Your olives look so nice. Thank you again for being a bright spot in my day.

  7. Hi Elaine, we have Javelinas here in Arizona they come out on a path at the side of our house. They are especially protective when they have young, and they are actually very aggressive when they feel threatened they will hurt you very badly and can also kill your dog. They can also run very fast, don't. Mean to worry you, just be careful. The name is actually pronounced Havelina. Enjoying your Xmas vlogs and especially like what you are doing with your land. Max is a star.

  8. Please be careful with those bores crossing the roads.. I live in Texas and too many friends have hit them and tore up their cars rounding a curve and having a wild bore run out in front of them. But you have truly moved to such a beautiful country. Thanks again for sharing.

  9. I love olives must be nice to eat them off your own land. The scenery is beautiful where you are, do you have to keep Max on the lead would he run off if you let him off. Loved seeing Max in the drivers seat waiting to go out.🤣🤣🤣

  10. What a lovely river! Those olives are very yummy. I bought a few little carob trees today. They are drought tolerant and provide CHOCOLATE (sort of). See if you can get hold of a couple

  11. Hi Elaine, for the olives, we were told, a long time ago, in corsica, to put them in water with wood ash, (you must cook it together and let it cool), and make little holes on them, that alow bitterness to gett off. Riper are the olives less bitter they are. then, we either put them in salty boiled water or in olive oil, but both, with different herbs, rosmarin, thymien, bay lifes, that give flavour and help conservation.

  12. What a nice beach… just like a post card! We are glad you got to see a mama boar with her little one. What a great idea… the mystery ride. It often leads you to a wonderful surprise!! Once again, Max is priceless!! Have a good day and stay safe.

  13. Lovely vlog today! I am liking these daily Vlogmas! We have Javelinas in the US also. I've only seen them one time. Not the cutest wild animal. I saw them in the early morning walking down a small town street. Not something I would want to run into at night. Not even sure if they are aggressive toward people or animals. Thanks! See you tomorrow.

  14. There are some specisl rakes to get the olives from the highest branches. Maybe for the next harvest…a big satisfaction for your precious olives.
Max sitting in the car to make sure he will be leaving with you is a dear.
Nice long walks, they're good for you. Keep up the good work and peaceful lifestyle.

  15. So nice to see you guys get out and about around the neighborhood. A diversion from the daily chores gives you time to reboot. Hopefully, when you get a little more settled in. We will get to see
more of the neighborhood and Castelo Branco. Another fine Vlogmas. Sending you much love ❤❤❤ from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki

  16. Enjoy your olives! It must be so wonderful to be eating olives off your own land. Such a beautiful landscape by the river❤ Max is smart. The truck won't be going anywhere without him🤣😂
