Guys you only eat the bones if they are tiny (less than 10 cm) and usually fried, what in Portugal we call "petinga", those big grilled ones you just eat the flesh and skin off the sides and the bread with the oil that drips from them, leave the bones and head 🙂 All the best!

It was so exciting to see you in Peniche a mere 15 minutes away from where we lived in Praia de Areia Branca our small village. There is a wonderful restaurant there on the beach serving some of the best fish chowder and cuttle fish. I went right along with you to the familiar spots. I often found in Portugal that I split my food with my husband because of the generous portions. Thank you for bringing some of that back for me. I continue to watch your journey with good feels and smiles. Stay well.

Thank you for being willing to talk about bycatch. Estimates vary for global bycatch of seabirds. These numbers are conservative. Marine mammals also die…several hundred thousand per year, globally. Sea turtles suffer as well. Sharks and literally millions of other non-target fish are killed as bycatch. Overfishing has depleted fish populations which also impacts various species of marine animals by reducing availability of prey. Pescatarian humans fund this devastation and suffering.

The seagulls used to be plentiful like that here in San Diego when I was kid in the 70's and teenager in 80's. Something happened after I got married and moved away for a while. By the time I came back, they were just gone… All the pigeons we used to have disappeared too. I used to see them as a nuisance, now I really miss them.

I somehow got behind and caught up by watching six of your Portugal videos in the last two days. It’s a great binge, btw. Love your adventures. I know some of the properties weren’t the best, but you have to keep looking to find the one you truly love. And this video of you both on the beach and enjoying the town was so good. Hopefully you had a chance to check out Ferrel for their festival between Aug 5-13, about 5 minutes away from Peniche. One of the biggest outdoor festivals on the silver coast. Must have truly been extraordinary after no festivals for 2 years.
