  13. Hope you guys are having a lovely Christmas, and enjoying being back on the farm. Watching your recent video, about the truck issues, it occurred to me that you might have inadvertently given yourselves another headache, buying a RHD truck in the UK.
    I'm pretty sure I've seen on other Portugal-based You Tubers channels that getting a RHD UK-reg car imported into Portugal can be an absolute nightmare. It's why they've all bought Portugese reg LHD trucks, like ancient Nissan 720s. It's also why trucks are SOOOO expensive in Portugal.
    I can't remember which channel I saw this on, but pretty sure it was 'The Indie Projects', so maybe reach out to Bea and Theo and ask what the issues were. They had a VW Jetta that was too much drama to get imported into Portugal, so they bought a Nissan truck. And pretty sure same thing happened for Guy and Kylie over on 'Make. Do. Grow'.
    It may mean you have to go back to the UK every year for an MOT and rego…..which won't be cheap.
    Sorry if this is a bother, but definitely reach out to someone and get some advice from people in Portugal. I think the big issue is import taxes or duties or something like that (i.e. big expense) not that it is impossible. And it may have changed due to Brexit, so take what I've said above with a pinch of salt till you can check it for yourselves.

  31. Hi to you both and congratulations on your wedding.

    I'm in the process of relocating to central PT too and I'm interested in your experience with importing your pick-up as I've had no luck finding a suitable vehicle in PT.

    I assume you are PT residents by now, or, at least on the way. How do you plan to bring a vehicle to PT that you haven't owned for six months in the UK? I understand that if you are not a resident you can't keep the vehicle in PT for longer than 90 days (maybe less?), you can't sell it in PT and nobody else can drive it. If you are resident you have to pay duty on it and re-register it within 20 days of its entry into PT. I'm told the duty demanded by PT is prohibitively expensive and the paperwork and checks a real pain, so how have you handled this?

    Also, what are your feelings on driving a RHD in a LHD country where carpark barriers, toll booths etc are on the "wrong" side? I'd be interested to know how you are finding it.

  32. It is the Challenges and problems that we have to learn from. What Truck was bad, Brand? year? problem? how many miles on it? Dealer or owner buy?. What truck did you buy, how many miles?   43. You didn't get scammed, it is just your age and naiveté. After 65 years on earth and about 400 various cars trucks, excavators and tractors later, I would never get a piece of crap into my ownership. Kind of like that outhouse build! But I was young and dumb once too and I love your journey and potential. Keep it up but read more!
