Hello! We had a BIG fire on our off grid land as we clear the land and make it fire safe for the summer. The list of jobs living off the grid is HUGE but we’re certainly enjoying creating our own homestead. We also work on our permaculture food forest and plant some more fruit trees.

We are now the proud owners of a stunning off grid property in Portugal, ‘The Wild Lands’. We’ve been searching for our own slice of heaven to start a homestead. We decided to base our search around the Castelo Branco region of Portugal, as the land here is not only beautiful, but far cheaper than the Algarve. Equally, there are many off grid families in the region, and we wanted to be close to a community of like-minded people.

Follow us on our adventure in the sun! (and sometimes biblical Portuguese rain!!!) As we start turning The Wild Lands’ into our own off grid heaven and learn homesteading, permaculture and how to deal with living off the grid!

We are Those Weirdos, A FAMILY OF 7: 3 people, 2 cats and 2 dogs living full time in our self converted Sprinter van. on our off grid homestead in central Portugal.

We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams. We’ve lived on the road as nomads for over 2 years now, and now we’ve bought off grid land in Portugal to create a homestead and a base for our travels.
