We HAD to do this on our Portugal Farm Renovation

This week we’re indulging in our first ever harvest! It feels like a monumental moment as we start this journey towards having our dream off-grid sustainable homestead in Northern Portugal.

We also move house so that we have a bit more space, and John tries his hand at making a bed!

Please make sure you SUBSCRIBE and join us for the adventure.

THANK YOU!

We are John, Tara, and Crusoe Newby. A family of explorers. Our ambition is to get our son Crusoe to over 100 countries before he goes to school. Please support us by giving us a thumbs up and making sure to subscribe to follow our adventures.

On and off, we have been traveling for over 20 years and have explored more than 160 of the world’s 193 countries, it’s been quite a journey, and now we are sharing our adventures weekly here on YouTube with new episodes EVERY SUNDAY.

BE BRAVE – THINK BIG – EXPLORE
Because we believe that lines across a map are more important than numbers in the bank.

Thanks so much for watching!!!

  1. I can't say enough how much I love to watch your videos. You eat chutney with what? I have to say I am not a big fan but maybe that is because I don't know how to pair it. Yours looked luxurious 😊

  2. Your wee orchard looks devine with the fruit begging to be picked. Its so easy to see why
you picked Portugal to settle in, the climate's just fab and you get ample rain for crops.
The Chutney looked delish as well so, I'm gonna have a go at chutney using your recipe.
What a fantastic bedframe its gonna look snazzy when its finished and staged up so,
well done with that chap its the bomb! Absolutely luv your vlog, your lil family just comes
through so authentic and genuine its lovely. Take care till next week U3 🥰

  3. Thanks Tara , John and Crusoe, I really enjoy watching your videos !!! You are making a great job and the way you do everything is inspiring !!!
And it is funny to see Crusoe moving around followed by his little friends !!! I wish you the best !!! Hugs from Uruguay !!!

  4. Can’t you get an electronic transponder which is automatically deducted from your credit card? Nearly everyone I know uses it . Saves you faafing around with Portuguese post offices . Just an idea.

  5. I’m thrilled to see that you are diligent, inventive souls. I’ve been traveling my entire life…forgotten how many countries….lived in, studied in and traveled through, but your making your land your own is cementing lots of your adventures. I’m in love with your new beginnings.

  6. Nice project! You'll never be able to purchase a lathe with a mouth wide enough for those posts for non-commercial use (extremely expensive/large machine), but you could have a go with a hand grinder to get most of the material off. Thanks for the video!

  7. Just discovered your magical family! We are relocating to Portugal by the end of this year from nova Scotia, Canada. We have spent our lives traveling, a lot under sail, and now in our early 70's, it's time for another adventure. I was in Portugal, Madeira and the Azores MANY years ago (before you guys were born!). I now write adventure books (the old-fashioned way to share!). We follow you with joy…

  8. I cannot believe I missed your update yesterday. I was so excited to find it that I ran to my quiet place as not to be interrupted. I'm never disappointed. You are both so talented with the things you do. How very special to hear from the previous neighbor. She will be a wealth of information. As I already see over 900 posts before me, don't worry about a reply. You have your hands full. A heart is sufficient to show you heard from me too.😊

  9. Lovely Plum Chutney! My daughter and I used to make Strawberry Jam (until life became hectic – hosts International Students and has 6 children!). Watching your process has brought back so many memories❤
