Being a single traveler I always stay in central Funchal in small hotels or studio apartments. Love my apartment and surroundings in Copenhagen so much and too old to want to move (78 years).   12. I really like the layout of your place. I love the two patios. That is definitely something that I want in my home. The weather is so nice there year around that you will definitely use the outdoor space all the time.

    I can’t wait to hear about the buying process and the taxes. I have so many questions about how property taxes work and the special taxation that is assessed on purchase.

  13. You nailed it Monique and Doug! What a beautiful home you've purchased! It's unbelievable that this townhouse has EVERYTHING but best of all solar power, A/C, and an A energy rating. You only really had to unpack your suitcases. Is this a two bedroom unit? Thank you for taking us on this tour and congratulations on Vila Doce!

  18. Looking good. It is a little more expensive than I was thinking. Lots of the groceries, restaurant and cell phone internet prices were about half what I pay. On the housing I don’t see much of a reduction from what we would pay around here. But the view is awesome.

    I wanted to ask you how far it is from the center of Funchal. Can you walk there?
    Also, you mentioned it was 1184 sq ft. Does that include the balcony or is that just the indoor space?
    My wife and I have been thinking about living in Maderia and your videos are really inspiring and enjoyable. Thanks and keep sharing.

  21. Wonderful video, (included cactus (12:11), lovely) congratulations! I already "flew or fled" 😃 from Tigre in Argentina, where I have still a great lot of stuff to bring to Portugal with a container. Xmas 2021 I made it to Coimbra, where I´m renting and residing now thanks to my EU passport. My home has to be between Calheta & Funchal. Very important for me is a the supermarket you mentioned 😃 & which name was censored. There is one in Av. D. Manuel I, 9370-133 Estreito da Calheta , & here in Coimbra I have it in Travessa de Combatentes in a 300 meter downhill walking distance. I´m very afraid of mudslides in Madeira (the last one was in 2010). I´m am searching something in the 100-400 meter height range (banana line 😃) The price is astonishing, I thought it would doble this figure. Greetings.
