Today we take a road trip, to the west coast of Central Portugal, to visit the seaside city of Figueira da Foz. Its the second largest city in the Coimbra district in Portugal and a great place to enjoy the sunshine and the waves. The Mondego river runs from the Serra da Estrela mountains for 258 kilometres until its mouth reaches the Atlantic ocean in Figueira da Foz.
Our visit was brief but we absolutely loved it, and we hope that you did too. 🤗
We are Ken & Gina, and we left the UK in 2019 in search of a simpler life, away from our office jobs, and the hustle and bustle of the big city. We sold our house, left the UK, and left the Rat race behind us, to move to Portugal and buy a farm. We found an amazing farm in Castelo Branco, Central Portugal where we have lived for the last two and a half years. We make these videos for our friends and family to keep up with what’s going on in our new lives and as a record to look back on one day so see how far we have come. Hi Ken, are you aware if any fishing license is needed to fish in the sea? I guess inland some sort of permit is required?

Figueira da Foz one of my favourite beaches. Only second to Praia Formosa, one of the many beautiful beaches in Sta Cruz, Torres Vedras.

My husbsnd and I are buying an apartment in Figueira. Having lived in the desert in the US for a long time, we wanted to be close to the sea. We plan on buying a country place to spend weekends.
We just missed you by a few days! We were there on Monday looking at a property listing. The boardwalk was nice there and we enjoyed the beach, but it was a bit cool and windy. Definitely not bikini weather!
Funny watching you drinking beer in public….here in the states means a fine and even prison😂😂 About the fish I think is called “tainha” and is really hard to catch them, I used small hooks.
Harriet and I have been to Figueira da Foz. A hidden gem for most international tourists, it must be nice to be able to decompress from Farm Life once in a while. What a treat.

Pedro Figueiredo, those fish did not look like tainha…..tainha are more slender and the fish that guy caught looked like a Robalo…..small sea bass.

You guys should have gone up Serra da boa Viagem….the views are fantastic…..and, on the other side are great views also and a a newer beach town. Not exactly my favorite beach town even if i was born like 50 miles from there. My niece has a condo there which belonged to her mother, which i am considering buying.

Portugal is such a beautiful country with so many places to experience and explore…we live by the Foz do Arelho – where the lagoon meets the sea. Have you been to the Venice of Portugal yet? (Aveiro). It's less than an hour from Figueira and definitely worth a visit. Great video and glad you enjoyed your day off of farm life.
Those fish are Taínha (Mullet). We don't eat those. They are like the sea version of city pidgeons. Not to be eaten, lol.

Glad you showed us a part of Figuiera da Foz, is one of the places that calls my name. That enormous mug, is it plastic or ceramic? do you buy it along with the beer? It is quite beautiful and you will put it to good use back at the farm
It is even a bit cold there in figueira da foz in summer. The strong wind, fog and humidity there really make people feel uncomfortable even in summer
