  1. Glad to see you're back. Best wishes for the apartment hunt. My wife and I are so excited to visit PT in May. A week in Portimão and another week north of Lisboa. All in preparation for our eventual retirement plan. Oh yeah, we're also going to check out some properties.

On a sad note, how has the war in Ukraine affected life in PT?

  2. Hi guys, welcome back! I am renting an apartment in Parque das Nações but thinking about moving to Cascais/Estoril/Carcavelos area. May I ask you why are you not considering renting there?

  3. Welcome back!. Just today over dinner we were talking that we did not see you for a very long time. Came home, got to Youtube and there you are! Are you happy with your new mic? Feels like you are in the large empty concert hall.

  4. I don’t usually comment and I think after you thought about it some more then this will make sense: Be very careful with your interpretation on residency and your ability to freely travel in the Schengen. Portugal grants your residency because they want you physically residing and contributing financially to its economy. It is your responsibility to show that you met those minimum stay requirements, not them to police you. The use of the NIF for so many day-to-day activities (like groceries) gives you an easy way to prove it for starters. The Golden Visa is the program for those who want residency without physically living there for long periods. I would be very ready for this question from SEF when you apply for the residency when this one ends. Have proof (bills, paper trail) of when you leave and return. Please get advice from a proper authority before you act on the idea that any time in the Schengen counts. ☺️☺️☺️

  5. Welcome "home"! Let me get this straight: you brought American chocolate back to Portugal with you? Hello. Two words: Switzerland; Netherlands. LOL. I could have mentioned a half dozen more countries in Europe where some of the best chocolate and chocolate products are available and reasonably priced. But, then, that's just my opinion. Have a great 2022!

  6. It is so good to see you back 🙂 you both seem refreshed visiting family and honestly it is best way to rejuvenate, look forward to more of your honest and discerning content and thanks for all your helpful videos so far 🙏🏽

  7. Hi Guys. Great Video loaded with info. I am a wannabee D7 from US. couple of questions.
My D7 plan is purely on passive income and have no intent to work or freelance (too old!!! and retiring state) in PT or US. That being said my source of Income is going to be SS, pension, divs on investments and 401K.
1.With my D7 converted to NHR on arrival, will I be able to buy a property in Lisbon / Porto which are banned for Golden visa applicants. I would like to buy 2 br flat preferably in Lisbon if allowed. What areas of Lisbon would you recommend that would be transportation, grocery store, general amenities friendly, and your gut feel on apartment prices.
    2. Who should i contact to get Health insurance quotes as this is one of the prerequisites for a D7. Can you send some links that you recommend. I understand that after you get your residency card on arrival, you are covered by the Portuguese health care system. Is that True?
    3. Under NHR scheme, all my income from all global sources are taxed @ 10%, and not sure if the higher tax of based on US /PT will be imposed or is it purely based on US filing (US gives standard deductions, tax loss write offs etc…. Just wondering how they apply and to which country you pay the taxes.
Your videos have been very useful and loaded with good info and will greatly appreciate a response. Thanks.

  8. I don’t think Portugal would know your whereabouts as long as you remain within the EU. Besides, you don’t have intention to abandon your residency status which counts a lot. Portugal is a wonderful country, very easy to live in

  9. Have you guys done a cell phone logistics video? Like do you have dual SIM phones so you can have a number in both countries? Which cell provider do you use? Does it have good internet data speeds? I've read about weird configs with Google voice & other VoIP providers.
