We’re building a Wooden Tiny house in North Portugal – house base + isolation + floor boards

13 weeks ago we bought an abandoned farm in Tras-os-montes, North Portugal. Today we’re starting to build our wooden tiny house. In this video, you’ll see the wood base on which our tiny house will sit. And you’ll see us lay the isolation and the floorboards.

We left the Rat trace for a simple life in North Portugal. And this is a slice of our dream and a new simple life.

  1. Don't use those galvanise sheets on your roof, it will cause condensation in the winter. You will have water dripping onto your water proof barrier . Use one with insulation and it will always be dry. God bless you guys.

  2. Well done on your progress so far. I’m surprised in a way that you didn’t go with the sandwich roof panels that have insulation built in. But glad you know what you want for the long term.

  3. Technically very correct to built the ground floor elevated in relation to the soil…otherwise the house always get humidity from underneath … unfortunately the majority of houses built in Portugal from some decades ago have the foundations directly over the ground and I believe even today some people build that way….in order to cut costs……

  4. Your tiny house isn't so tiny! Looks great. In slow motion I can see that the dogs are like little children – they follow you everywhere. Do you both have a background in construction?
