‘What are you doing here?’: Ukrainians recount Russian occupation

Half the population of Kyiv has now left, as Russian forces move closer.
Towns on the outskirts of the capital have come under intense shelling, and people escaping are telling of atrocities they say are being committed by Russian soldiers.
Al Jazeera’s @Step Vaessen reports from Kyiv, Ukraine.

  1. "What are you doing here?" so wierd to ask such questions about things that had been discussed and warned for years by now, and still we act like today we fall from the Moon and waked up here.
Im asking for the second time go to the border, check who passed first, cause the borders after few days had been opeened and they passed like trough butter, no check nothing. Who are the people passing, we dont know a thing about them there is no checks. Could be that amongst this tens of thousands that even russian agents have passed, that armed organised crime and so on?
How we can look elsewhere when certain someone from far west wants something. Romania just recently, out of the blue decided to lift Covid restrictions. Wasnt a humanitarian crisis at Poland border with Belarus not long ago (and actually still is ) but cuse of diffrent colour and religion (in my opinion) they had been stoped. Is ok, lets go back to watch Tv like good citizens , oh look Zelensky announcing victory is close , 100 russian thanks destroyed, 10000 captured, planes destroyed and all this kind of stuff every day, I am sure all of this is true, afterall they never lie.

  2. Why were you silent when your so called “Ukrainian Army” was killing innocent civilians and childrens and shelling them just for speaking Russian! Where were your so called “Hereos”, Where were your sanctions?

  3. AJE might want to disable their comment section; it's a cesspool of russian disinformation trolls. Life is getting shittier in russia, so they are out working double time to earn that worthless ruble :.(

  4. Ask them how r u feeling ..
And …have u ever felt for the people of Iraq …Syria…lebnon…Africa…palastine … …n Russia answered it …..Russia has every right to defend its country from terrorists from Europe , NATO…..
Russia whatever is needed do it to secure ur land…..
N their media is saying they r high class people n all other r not …
They r Europeans not Syrians ,Afghans ,,palastenians,, ……

  5. Arm Ukraine with air defense systems and jets so they can establish their own no fly zone. Increase domestic oil production in western nations. Russia, Middle East and China are rigging oil prices on the west as a form of economic warfare. Never end the sanctions on Russia until they remove Putin and disarm and deactivate all their nuclear weapons. Then the rest of the nations can work on global nuclear disarmament.

Anti aircraft rockets can take out helicopters but not bomber jets or artillery. Migs can take these weapons out. Missile guided systems can also help to take out bombers and artillery. Ukrainians are probably conserving the jets they have for now.

Use a private entity and the open seas for the fighter jets to operate out of. Use a private military and give them a decommissioned naval aircraft carrier or something similar. This way no nation is involved. Until the jets enter Ukrainian airspace the Russians couldn't act on it.

NATO needs to stay out of the war no matter what including if chemical weapons are used and still support Ukraine with arms and funding. That is the safest way.

  6. Research shows that between 2010 and 2019, from 82% till 85% of the average country's citizens didn't finish high school. Imagine how the average Ukrainain feels if they're forced to leave their country on such short notice. Dazed and confused, they abandon what they know and love because it's the only way out. 😥

Edit: Please subscribe to my YouTube channel, guys. I know the audio and graphics quality is terrible. The reason being- I animate with a personal laptop in Powerpoint. I need 1000 subscribers to earn ad revenue to pay for the necessary applications and devices. I want to spread awareness of the cruel Ukrainian invasion, too.
