Our path to preserve Quinta dos Ingleses has been long, full of moments of tension, some in which everything seemed to be going the best, others in which despair almost made us lower our arms – but we are not the kind of people who give up.
We are now approaching decisive moments for the future of Quinta dos Ingleses.
The period for suspending the licensing process is coming to an end, and the municipality’s results of the last public consultation should be released soon.
As is public knowledge, the Cascais City Council has not expressed a firm position on preserving the Quinta. Although it is known that the Municipality (and not the Government) is competent to revoke the PPERUCS and to classify the Quinta as a protected area in the local area, the CMC has repeatedly stated that it is up to the Government to solve the problem.
If a change in the composition of local authorities would allow the classification of that green area – and the creation of an exemplary urban green park for the benefit of present and future generations and the protection of the beach and surfing –, the results of last September 26th they fear the worst.
It is ESSENTIAL TO TAKE NEW STEPS with new studies and technical opinions and the recourse to judicial means to stop the imminent ecocide and the definitive destruction of Quinta dos Ingleses.
The association SOS QUINTA DOS INGLESES is now working on it.
As we know, from the evidence given so far, only TOGETHER WE WILL SUCCEED!
