So this week is a bit of a different episode… come along for a walk with us and the dogs and we will tell you the goings on on and around the farm.

We are Ken & Gina. 2.5 years ago, we got fed up with paying a mortgage and having to work boring office jobs just to keep our heads above water! We decided to take a big chance, sell everything, and buy a motorhome, which we used to drive our remaining belongings and our pets to Portugal. We bought a beautiful farm in Central Portugal where we live with our 3 dogs, 2 cats and a bunch of other farm animals. Every week we release new episodes of our Portugal Farm Life where you can get an inside look at how we live, on and around the farm, and adapt to the challenges of our new lives.

Things didn't really go according to plan this week. Come along with us for a stroll around the OKportugal farm and find out what's been going on 🐈❤🐕
I had the same problem with the language and I found using apps or websites wasn't working for me in order to actually have a conversation. I could say something but God help me if they replied back… I switched to a weekly 1-1 teacher and it's made a huge difference for me.
Try speaking Portuguese with each other. So Gina, when you are hungry tell Ken "Eu tenho fome" and he'll dash off to the BBQ and fix something. Really just try simple phrases, in this case practice not to be perfect but to gain confidence hearing yourselves should do just that.
Thanks for your vid beautiful people 😇💓💓💓 love you guys.
LOVE Your hair Gina.
I think peanut butter works
The weather forecast is useful – cos it's on daily – and gives you a great topic for conversation. Somebody suggested posting a word/phrase in every video, great idea, we can learn along with you. Re rats: can you borrow a couple of Jack Russell terriers!! – they're super efficient at rat-catching. Finally, beautiful flowers, and Rui. And all the way through, Gina's lovely hair – you must have had a fun time at the hairdressers? Thanks both, till next week.
ove your walkabout chatting, nice video. /////////////////////////can't wait for a Christmas town-tour
as you where walking around i was looking at the fantastic growth and seed strike in the paddocks the rain is doing its good
This video has some good ideas to get rid of mice, mainly the amazon bucket. Hope it will help. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cvT_Omaix6w
Geena your hair is terrific, very flattering.
How to solve rats…I've done this here on our property… mix cornmeal with some sugar and baking soda. Place in a .plastic container with a large hole in the end. The rats can go in and eat this mixture. Once eaten by the rats their stomachs will explode due to the expansion of the soda. Job done. Not effective with dogs or cats it will not harm them.
Gina, your hair is lovely! Your walkabout was nice & relaxing… just a little check in. 🙂 In Lisbon, be sure to show us the Pastéis de Belém bakery.
Try electrical rat killer and put rat traps along the wall, dont expect much for at least a week until the rats get used to it and when its working make sure you site it again in the same place one you emptied the now ex-rat.
Hey guys we are UK expats who lived in New Zealand for 12 years. Now in Spain for now. Looking at moving to Portugal eventually. We’ve been watching you guys from the start. You are doing an amazing job making the most of your new life in Portugal. We love seeing Gina very cool lady. I feel shy using my Spanish but you go girl 😊👍
I’d get to the pub more to get your Portuguese up to speed!
Walking around the farm under the sunny blue sky, catching up, and enjoying the beautiful little wild flowers and critters with you is always time well spent. It's what you work hard for. Love your plans for the additional hang-out space for all the muddy beings.
Sorry for your rat problems. Hope you can find a humane exterminator… they do multiply exponentially, sadly. 😔
Congrats on your residency 🥳, wonderful milestone.
The obvious change this week that you missed was Gina's new haircut and colour 👌
Maybe you can harvest some of your olives for eating?
If possible move the chickens to another coup away from the house because they will attract rats
Going 2 lessons a week is pretty darned good going, imo! Confident & embarrassed or not, I bet it is sinking in without you realising. You are both absorbing it.
Don't give up, keep going
For your rat problem, I've seen people on YT use a mix of cornbread mix and baking soda (or equal parts cornmeal/sugar/baking soda). It wont affect any other animal except rats and I believe mice. 💕
Thanks for the update! I loved the outro btw!
Wonderful video! Loved all bits. And the language bit. It's hard to relearn the language when your not living there (me). 🙏❤🇺🇸👣⛵🇵🇹
Hi Gina and Ken. Imagine how your language growth is going to grow in the next 5 years. Conversational Portuguese fantastico.
Much love from New Zealand 💕
