  1. Very, very, very rarely, do I subscribe to a channel on the strength of seeing just one video. The channel needs to be pretty good for me to do so! You just earned your wings sir! I subscribed! Now I am looking forward to catching up on all your previous videos. All, I hope, as informative and entertaining as this one . Looking forward to it. Keep safe 🙂

  2. Man that looks grueling to me. During my working life I flew cross country for conventions, new product introductions, training, entertaining clients, and visiting our factories in the States and Europe. It was fun for about 5 days at a time. Layovers, cancelled flights, airport food, luggage handling, and ground transportation took a toll. It looks like you enjoy yourself and make the most of the opportunity for adventure. I learned a lot from this video about airline pilots, thanks, and good luck to you.

  3. Thank you for picking up trips while a lot of the majors are having problems with the pilot shortages. I know you mentioned you're on reserve but you could have just sat there and waited for scheduling to assign you a trip and possibly sitting. Instead, you were proactive and helped out yourself, the company, and the passengers. Do you fly exclusively out of EWR? If not, have you thought of getting into a senior crashpad in Kew G. that doesn't have so many beds? Up until Covid, we have always had a mix of pilots and flight attendants, but now we only have f/a's because we had too many leaves due to enhanced retirements and separations with the company. We just had to fill the place to keep the price down. I just stumbled onto your Youtube, great content so I subscribed. Happy Flying

  4. I really wanted to be a commercial pilot and I love planes.
Got a private license at age 17.
However during the necessary testing stuff for commercial pilot they found my hearing was on;y 80% in the left ear.
Oh well, I was sad but then went on to be successful as a software developer.
I still want to fly commercial planes really though.

  5. I'm so sorry, but a lot of your language is airline language and we laymen find it difficult to work out exactly what it's all about.
The major confusion here is –
We don't know if you're flying your own flight while you're on vacation.
I know this has happened with off-duty pilots, where the official pilot didn't show up for whatever reason, and the vacationing pilot volunteered to fly the plane to help out the company. and of-course the passengers.

  6. Hey Paul, great videos! I’m with A/C maintenance for AA out of kennedy. Nice to see things from a pilot’s eye. Have you ever considered moving near EWR to be able to spend more time with the family?

  7. First of all love Paul’s videos the content is great!! Came across his YouTube channel a few days ago. Love seeing inside a airline captains life and how it all works. I love airplanes always have ever since I was a kid. I thought it would be exciting being an airline pilot but never pulled the trigger
    Keep the videos coming Paul

  8. I don’t typically comment on videos. I think this is one of my first few comment but I just want to say that your video is absolutely incredible! I can’t wait to start with 121 carrier in a few months!

  9. I'm impressed by the quality of the video. Not only the content is interesting and original, it's also a very obvious how much effort you put in the video editing.
Hope we'll meet one day in the skies 😉

  10. I love your content! Would really love to see something on weather… here in Zurich we are having daily thunderstorms and I know it causes big problems. Hope to see you here one day!

  11. I’ve been an aircraft mechanic and recreational pilot for most of my life. I’ve got commercial helicopter, airplane and instructor endorsements but the flying career has always been on the back burner because of the huge pay cut and poor working conditions for entry level pilots. The pilot shortage has opened the door. I shall step through.

  12. Just found ur channel…very interesting! Some questions: how do u book the “away” hotels that ual pays for? Does the airline take care of that, or is there a special website u use, or do u use Expedia, etc, like the rest of us?

  13. You poor long haul pilots. Are you really telling us that after eight hours you need a relief pilot? This is a normal work day for short-haulers.

ps. The other thing that long haulers do is tell us “inexperienced” pilots that when we have as much time in the air as they do then we might be able comment on aviation.

  14. Hey Paul, looks like you have around the same number of subscribers as me. But rather than ask you questions in the comments (as there are 358 comments), I'll email you instead with my questions.

  15. I like the way you shoot your video's. You have an innate sense of what works. It looks like you put a lot of effort into it.
I wonder how you get time to do it all amongst your already busy schedule and travel? Also what do you shoot on?
