Who's afraid of the Big Bad Dog? 🎵🐕🌞🐓PORTUGAL FARM LIFE S4-E39

We finally both decided on a name for our new Rooster and decided to call him “Rui” (Rui Rooster). Rui is a traditional Portuguese name meaning “Famous Ruler” and we think he will grow into his name well 🐓

We revisited the infamous Well that our Serra da Estrela puppy Edmundo got rescued from 🐕 Seeing it in the daytime is a whole different thing!

We also repainted our house and give you guys a peek. Unfortunately, we got the colour totally wrong so we will need to do it all over again! 🌞

Hope you enjoy this week’s episode.

We are Ken & Gina. 2.5 years ago, we got fed up with paying a mortgage and having to work boring office jobs just to keep our heads above water! We decided to take a big chance, sell everything, and buy a motorhome, which we used to drive our remaining belongings and our pets to Portugal. We bought a beautiful farm in Central Portugal where we live with our 3 dogs, 2 cats and a bunch of other farm animals. Every week we release new episodes of our Portugal Farm Life where you can get an inside look at how we live, on and around the farm, and adapt to the challenges of our new lives.

  1. HI, Ken and Gina. In fact, the name Rui is a diminutive of the name Rodrigo, of Germanic origin: Hrodric (Old Germanic) > Rodericus (Latin) > Rodrigo (Portuguese) and means famous prince/ruler (hruot + rik = fame + prince).

  2. Loving your videos and the pups. I have an American Staffordshire terrier,- she's such a good girl, but unfortunately for her she's in the pit bull family. Do you know if there are any breed restrictions in Portugal? It's the only thing keeping me from moving. I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find anything.

  3. We've been using Tractive on our dogs for a couple of years now and really like it! One of our dogs is deaf, in the rare event he wanders away he won't hear us calling and I really appreciate the piece of mind of being able to quickly locate him.

  4. By Ocre powder to mix with white paint, then add till you get the terracota colour ayou like. But if I was you I would go for the traditional Portuguese blue like the one on the tank steps. All the best.

  5. Gina you did a great job painting. When I watched this about 5AM this morning after being up all night and forgot to mention your hard work. So I've watched this twice now. 😍

  7. Great mix ken and Gina naughty puppy wandering glad he is a protector of sheep etc domestic dogs in packs are brutal ime glad your concerned about his wandering tells us your responsible owners , most important with them my Dianna attacked neighbours chickens , they had her collar we paid for the 2 australorps she killed and made sure she was only out and about under supervision as once blooded she was untrustworthy sadly great vid , hi Gina Como da tindo 👍❤️❤️❤️🙏

  8. Nothing like a good puddle after a baking summer… Is your soil clay? – looks a bit like ours in North Devon. Good to see you both happy and relaxed, and Rui and Eddie learning their trades…. Nx

  9. It's so nice to see you both in the video. It looks like things are progressing along. Ken, do you have access to Amazon Espana? Amazon sells paint . Just a thought. Our portuguese lessons are
coming along. Gina, It can make your head spin . Conjugating verbs. Hope you're doing ok. Sending you much love🙏❤🙏 Jim, Harriet and Yuki. Richmond, Va.

  10. Great video. Would you consider the darker green paint if you can’t find the right melon colour. Lovely to see Gina and good luck with Eddie and his amazing tracker.

  11. Countryside houses in Portugal are lime washed because lime keeps insects and bacteria away , door and window frames are blue or yellow painted to keep away bad spirits , envy , evil eye and bad luck.
