Hello Alan and family, to discover in this video that you live in my small and beloved island of Madeira and just for that detail I have subscribed to your channel, I hope and wish that you are comfortable there despite being an island and everything is very limited but at least there is everything you need, that compared to what I remember from the 80s, crossing the island took several hours of travel in an old bus through narrow and winding roads, the money was only enough to eat and little else and if you wanted to buy something new and attractive you had to go to British stores which was forbidden for the natives because it was all very expensive, besides that almost no one understood English. But then came the EU and globalization and everything changed for the better or so I want to believe.a small recommendation, you have to travel to the Azores, you will be surprised. A greeting from a Madeiran from Asturias, Spain.
Can't wait to move to Lisbon.
The more I watch your videos the more I ask myself why am I still here in the US?! The thought of leaving my only child here and move back to Portugal is a very difficult decision for me. I am going there for Christmas so count down has started!! 😁😊

I enjoy your videos and am considering retiring to Portugal. I am of Portuguese descent and have visited the Azores where my mother was born. How about a video on the downsides of moving to Madeira or the mainland Portugal. If you only tell us the upside, many more Americans will move there. They will drive up the cost of housing / rents and everything else. I remember one of your videos where you didn't want everyone to know how great Madeira is for this very reason. So it is a double edged sword you wield promoting American expatriation to Portugal. Many Americans are very nice, wholesome, honest, friendly people as you and your family appear to be in your videos. Many are not. What were your original reasons for leaving America ? Ohio where you lived has many problems and many problem people. I know you don't want to see those coming to Portugal. All I am saying is temper your travel agent enthusiasm's with some hard realities about moving to Portugal. People are the same everywhere.
