A video looking at why a country might take the decision to change its flag. It can be done for any number of reasons, whether it be a regime change, independence, and something entirely unique to that country’s situation.

A look a few examples of countries that have changed their flag, starting with South Africa, and the change made after an end to apartheid. I also look at the USA, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and finally Japan.

  1. As Indians we should feel blessed that the Union Jack once fluttered proudly on our soil. We owe a lot to Britian for essentially founding this country and making civilised citizens out of its people. Social ills like Sati(burning of widows in the late husband's funeral pyre)and Untouchability would still have been prevelant in india had it not been for the British who abolished it. Jai Hind. Rule Britannia.

  2. So officially the Dixie cross, confederate battle flag, was never an official flag of the CSA, for the official flag look at the state flags of Georgia and North Carolina. However it is seen as the popular depiction of their flag hence the bans, while I’m not a fan of either flag I’d rather see the Dixie cross flying due to its use before the civil war by the milita of Virginia. Again I’m saying it’s the lesser of two evils not outright ok to fly

    Ausweis bitte!

It's common policy in Europe. Even the USSR had that. So how is carrying a pass bad?

This upload looks like communist propaganda. Especially the part about george f is bad.

  4. In regard to the South African flag, you left out the part about South West Africa (today Namibia) that also used the flag and made a likewise transition to a modern, non-colonial design in 1990.

  5. I looks like Puerto Rico is pretty comfortable in their current situation: they get us citizenship, but they don’t pay Federal Taxes. Of course some people advocate for statehood or even independence, but time will tell.

As for DC it is not so straight forward. The reason is that Maryland ceded some land to DC, which is where most people live. Should DC become a state, it would return to Maryland, having to renegotiate its “statehood”. Which might not happened, which would get you back to where they started.
