Having returned with the van from Portugal at the end of December, after eighteen months, to get an MOT and clear out my house I got stuck in the UK because I hadn’t been vaccinated and could not travel back through France or Spain without a vaccination passport. Two months on I am just about to have my second vaccine and on March 20th I will finally be able to leave the UK and head back to Portugal.
Living in the van in the UK winter has not been what I would call fun. I’ve woken up to ice on the inside of the windows, many many days of rain and storm Eunice, the worst storm to hit the UK for over thirty years. It has been challenging mentally and emotionally. One thing I have learnt from van life is you never quite know what will be around the next corner. There is never a dull moment.
It has not been all doom and gloom. There have been a few gloriously sunny days when I have been able to go exploring and I have of course made the most of my time here seeing family and friends as most of them I will not likely see again for at least another year.
Once again I am beginning to feel the fear and excitement of leaving the UK to begin the next chapter of my life in finding a home in rural Central Portugal and living a more sustainable life in nature.

That series of storms was scary in a house, let alone a campervan. Glad no trees, trampolines or sheds got blown down near you! Your new aim of living a self-sufficient life in Portugal sounds idyllic. Best of luck.
Henley looks nice and Red kite's are always nice to see .Storms are bit of a pain 😣
Thank you for the interesting video. 🙂
