But it’s more than that: it’s a warm bank, it’s a drop-in centre and a rare space for the community to meet. How does the model stay afloat and keep the lights on when everyone is affected by the cost of living crisis? The Guardian video producers Maeve Shearlaw and Christopher Cherry spent time there in the run-up to Christmas, as the locals watched the World Cup, to find out.

A very nice example of social cohesion!
But; I'm wondering what's going on in the UK right now. How can that be?
Hi wasssup
Where I live London I would describe the population as probably no more than 2% white. It's like looking back in history 50 years seeing a video like this. Interesting opinions
Appreciating British community and culture? Careful with that,Guardian. Carry on with that, and sane people may just start supporting you.
Marry christmas for all England, do not forget to enjoy your Family and your life ,today you really can not waist with bad fellings 😊❤🎉
Tory Britain. They always make an economic and social mess.
Britain is absolutely on its knees. Depressing
Making money is an action. Keeping money is behavior. Growing money is knowledge.😊
Another amazing community project.
Where is the King and the super rich prime minister to help these people ??
Wonderful Community Pub. Simply inspiring. Such a positive contribution from working class people in Brighton ❤
"House of multipule occupancy" I wonder how many of those does Sunaks hedge fund own
If there js communoty jr works vwry well not just to dronk beer butbto repair the affects of that addiction and manu real dofficult social challanges. Tje respurces are nkt killed by tax bjt the officwe often js an actor so mjgjt koll that qffevt . Ot is repoet amd slpw ppem again and filmnthe weotomg and bring via priortu numbers to vourt agaon bad mouth money. Not people
Margaret Thatcher and Brexit…✅ 🏴😎
This video has definitely put a smile on my face and people like Ross are a Godsend. However it also got me thinking, when there is a such a bad cost of living crises, how are people still affording £5 for a pint. I understand that we all need to socialise but shouldn’t something like alcohol be a luxury and not a necessity. And it’s also likely that people would 3-5 drinks when they go to the pub (minimum) which is almost the cost of your weekly shopping.
Mrs Charlotte legit and her method works like magic I keep on earning every single week with her new strategy
just like in the movie "Rango", you got the heating problem
dear working class people(like me)STOP voting tory they DESPISE you
I have to admit that in the far east ( HK) people spending in bar not issue even inflation gone up. If a normal UK citizen has this problem just buying a drink then there is a serious problem with the UK economy…
Looks like Brexit Den to me so I couldn’t care less. Suffering is caused partly by Brexit and country lost billions in trade and City of London so there is less money to go around. So I couldn’t give a toss about people that stole everyone else’s future with their stupidity 😢
So many truly amazing people in this world yet we continue to let the worst of us rule us
Brilliant journalism
