As a member of the European Union, Portugal’s passport has been ranked high in the Global Passport Index in recent years. According to a comprehensive report by the Portuguese newspaper, the latest Henley Passport Index (The Henley Passport Index) shows that the Portuguese passport allows visa-free entry to 187 countries/regions, rising one place in the global passport list and currently ranking fifth.
