The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense released video footage from a Ukrainian mortar unit in action during combat in the battle of Moschun in the direction of Hostomel.

The small village is located in the area of Kyiv and has seen constant shelling by Russian forces.

This led to the evacuation of almost all of the 800 residents.

Currently the Ukrainian military is defending the area against Russian advances.

In the video you can see Ukrainian soldiers conducting fire missions on Russian units and artillery positions.

Also there are two comments made by soldiers who participated in the battle.

One finds surprisingly clear words for his enemy if you keep in mind that this is in fact part of a official press release.

  2. You will see if they are stupid in a couple of days 馃槈 Wait they have finished cleaning the east, at the moment they are just circling Kiev and studying the lines of defence, they control the area and gather information. The offensive on Kiev has not started.

  18. Definitely looks like these mortarmen are conducting a S.E.A.D. mission……suppression of enemy air defense. You can see the smaller bursts in a linear pattern then a large (likely fixed wing bomb or rocket) explosion in the middle. The smaller 60mm mortars they are firing are likely used to keep the heads of the russian soldiers down while the aircraft comes in for a bombing run. Fascinating to see the aerial footage of this in action, having experienced this type of combat myself.
