🚙 Central Portugal Without a Car! Could you do it?

In this video I enjoy one of those lovely Portuguese moments that remind you just how different life is now. I experience a series of fortunate unfortunate events. I say fortunate because a reason always becomes clear later on why you were thrown off a particular path and sent down another road instead.

  1. Goodness you are resilient! The area you’re travelling through looks like Placer county California USA. Do Portugal libraries work with reading/listening/streaming apps?

  2. Good grief, you know what they say, when it rains, it pours. Been through such days as well, when you think it's done and something else comes up. I hope everything is better now. Take care.

  3. Thanks for sharing that video Louise, it may have not been action packed but it was useful and highlights not all areas of portugal are ideal places without a car. You were meant to take time out of your busy days, just to reflect and enjoy the scenery. Glad you got your car back before you wore your shoes out. 🤣
In UK we just accept transport as our feet. Your so kind to feed the dogs, they looked young, as an animal lover it would upset me to see so many stray dogs, but you and like minded people feed them when possible. 💚

  4. Wow I could not manage without a car there no way
You are very brave going on busses and trains
It’s so sad to see the dogs so hungry, you are so kind giving them some food 😊
    Thank you for sharing 😁

  5. Hey Luise, I just bought a place and moved to Portugal. You know I was always late and these kind of setbacks would ruin my day. Funny thing is I am niw mostly on time and laugh through these mishaps. I guess I knew going in that Portugal life things happen in their own time. I threw away the lists and said you know what doesn't get done today might get done tomorrow, but heck I'm going swimming in the river, or have a nice long lunch, those things and time we can't get back. I am sooooo much healthier for it. I bought a tiny home with 2 ruins (which I will make outdoor living and a magical ruin garden) so yeah I will always have stuff to do, but I didn't move here to work constantly, even though design and projects are my passion, I moved here to enjoy each breath I take for however long I am lucky enough to. I love living in Portugal and the Portuguese make it a true home for me. I am 54 and doing this on my own, people say I am brave, but I have no choice, what just because I am alone doesn't mean I can't travel or buy a home or build stuff. It isn't just woman, I know many men who also are afraid to venture alone waiting to do things with a partner, life passing them by going through the motions. I love myself first then anyone who blesses me with their friendship. One maybe someone will come along and we fit well and enrich each others life, but if not it's ok, I enjoy my life. Keep going, I like how you show such a different lifestyle that over 50 we don't have to live what others think is the way we should. Take care!

  6. Hazel ☘️ …
Grape picking is such good fun … very rewarding … you can fill a bucket quickly !
Now olive picking is another story !

No car, a complete nightmare and internet problems … welcome to my world !
But I’ll appreciate it when I get all back up and running again , as you will !

I still cannot get my head around all those abandoned buildings , they look so sad !

    Never tease the cosmic joker … it loves the challenge … smile gracefully and give thanks … I think that the best way to deal with the challenges it provides haha … it’ll soon leave you alone and move on to another (probably me !}
    🙏☘️😘

  7. You are not alone it’s testing us all just lately A lot of people seem to be having a lot of trouble with garages over there and mechanics don’t seem to find the fault glad you got it sorted in the end .just look at me no car no speak the language Google Maps are not helping and my lawyer office is above a sex shop 🙈 back in Portugal next week at least I know roughly what I’m doing first thing get a car definitely wouldn’t be without one take care 🤷‍♀️

  8. Thank you for feeding those doggies. It’s strange what makes an interesting video but you coped very well with all the challenges. What would I have done is the interesting part! Very inspiring, well done!

  9. Hello Luise 👋🏻, glad you got your car back! I can’t imagine going to long without a car in Portugal. There is too much exploring to do! Those dogs are so sweet! Thank you for feeding them!

  10. Well, no wonder we've not heard from you in a little while. Glad you were abe to retrieve your new sim card. What did they learn was wrong with your car? Tho tested, you look well. Lovely of you to treat your doggie friends. Looking forward to your next installment. 😉

  11. Don't the grapes are be washed before smashed? Your SIM is british, I presume? Why don't you have a portuguese one?
The abandonned buildings are result of the process, many families don't agree with terms of who stays with what, when someone dies.
And many, many, I would say a huge amount, left the country and when to live in so many different places over our amazing Planet.
You know the lines are not all yet remade. Many burned in the fires and have many days ahead to be rebuilt.
In that area, dogs use to walk out of the house gardens. They don't look skinny, they are just waiting for a bite…hehehehe
