  1. Lad eating with your hands is fine, only people who we would call "betinhos" eat stuff like pizza and burgers with fork and knife, Ive been living here for all of my life and its been very rare to see people eating junk food with silverware. Oh and by the way, you can approach women and talk to them or ask them for directions stuff like that, were not maniacs lmao just dont be a creep and all is good

  2. Desculpa mas comer pizza ou hambúrguer de faca e garfo é de rir só se for em Lisboa porque nós cá no norte é à mão seja pizza, hambúrguer ou frango assado não vamos em maneiras finas

  3. Since wheenn are elderly woman the bosses? XD we offer sits and to pass on the line because we are respectful, we might also do it for elderly man. Its not because they are the boss.
And we eat with our hands. Dont think they give us cuttlery in mcdonads or pizzahut. Or if we go eat a bifana, or caracóis or amêijoas.
Plus whats wrong with approoaching a girl on the street? I really dont understand.

  4. You can approach Portuguese women in public, I used to do it all the time before getting married. It depends on the context, on the girl and on your sensibility, both the way you make your approach and to the social norms (and it is important to know these). For instance, if your sitting at a café by yourself and you see the girls also sitting by herself and you made eye contact and she isn't avoiding you or didn't gave you a "stay away" look, you may try to make conversation. But always be polite and don't invade her space. Keep enough distance between you and the girl, till you understand you may advance. The secret in Portugal is being polite and intelligent. If you make an approach that cries out "I want to go to bed with you" or cringe-romantic, probably you won't be very successful. Basically, just give her breathing space, be polite and try to surprise her, and you will probably be fine. And usually we give a lot of slack to foreigners … just don't be plain rude.

  5. I'm Portuguese and I must say… Who the fuck eats pizza or burgers with a fork and a knife?! Also fuck elderly women they are the worst, heck fuck elderly people they are the first ones to not have any kind of respect for you so why should I respect them? Also they are first ones to comment on anything and everything, like for example my wife is blind and I had to get angry at many of those people because they made a stupid comment like "oh poor thing" or like how they say in Portugal "Deus tenha pena" which translates to "God have mercy", my wife as always been blind and she's OK with that fact, so am I, heck somenof them even think I'm also blind because "blind people can only date and marry other blind people" … Yeah that's not how it works

  6. Is ok eat with your hands. But if you have a food on a plate, is more common to be fork and knife.
The U turn depend on road you are
Yes do not stay on the left on the highway.
Speak Portuguese 👍 it will help.
Never said you are in Spain… 🚫
    Multibanco or Visa, is ok.
The speak to woman more and less…
    And never mistreat elder people.

  7. I was laughing when he mentioned do not eat with your hands in certain situations. I spend a lot of time in Brazil over the last few years and they are like that too in many ways. I'm looking forward to my trip to Portugal….

  8. As a portuguese woman i would love to wear high heels every day but i walk to work every day and although our side walks are beautiful they are equaly slippery . Unless you are the kind of woman that only wear high heels and nothing else, dont try walking around any portuguese city/town in them.

  9. I am a portuguese woman and everything this man said on the video is the TRUTH!
I am sorry, but the portuguese who say he is not right have no self awareness.

    1. Portuguese people, indeed, do NOT eat with their hands, unless its a bread or pastry.
French fries are only eaten with the hands if you are on mcdonalds, if you use your hands to eat french fries anywhere else you will look like a neanderthal (for a portuguese). Pizza is also eaten with fork and knife, unless you are in a VERY CASUAL situation and at home, but outside home always with knife and fork. Portuguese people are actually claimming that it is ok for a man in his 30ties to eat pizza with his hands, but they are not right, it would look disgusting for a portuguese.

    2. You CANNOT approach a portuguese woman in the street, and if you do you will NEVER get her phone number. She will think being approached in such a manner is insulting. If a portuguese man says he does that, well a portuguese man once did that to me: I thought he was a creep, did not even look at his face.

  10. Most important one is definitely not speaking Spanish. Just my opinion. As a Portuguese myself, i find it extremely annoying. Usually i just answer "i don't speak Spanish" and the conversation is over right there

  11. To me all of these things are universal. Don't know why it had to be just Portugal. And i don't get offended at all if some foreigner tries to communicate in Spanish. Everybody knows that both languages are very similar, apart from the accent, of course.

There are some foods, or snacks that you can eat with your hands, just use your common sense and look around. What kind of food is it? are you in some fancy restaurant?

As far as approaching women in public, this is not a muslim country, if you get my point. Are you trying to hook up with someone single or married? where and how?

I don't know any country of the world where it is OK to disrespect old folks, namely old ladies.

Amigo Dave parachuted from high altitude! LOL, enjoy the climate, have a few snacks and sip a good drink!

  12. Great video, but there are somethings that might be misleading:

1st: eating with your hands its totally fine.
I mean, we have sandwiches(?), and we eat those with our hands, so hamburguers and pizzas is no problem.
Also Multibanco (ATM) is a debit card service. Now businesses might have Multibanco but they might not accept credit cards or international credit cards (american express comes to mind, but also Maestro and Visa – these last ones you should be fine, but always ask before consuming anything, unless of course you have live money on you)
Regarding the ladies: if you aren't an ass its ok. Now if try to be a wise guy its not going to go well for you.
Long story short: come over here, drink, have fun and dont be an asshole.

  13. Just so people know, the Driving Code in Portugal has established that parking lots in malls are considered extensions of the street and in case of accident, the person not respecting the driving sense will be the faulty party. Yup, no free for all.

  14. 4:10 – It's also useful to point out that car parks usually have painted arrows on the floor to direct traffic, so if you see an arrow pointing at you, you know you screwed up somewhere and you should make a U-turn a.s.a.p (U-turns are not a no-no). 😄
6:00 – It's not just the left lane, it's against the law to stay in ANY lane other than the right lane unless you have to overtake slower traffic. Since the main motorways went from 2 to 3 lanes, more and more drivers stay in the middle lane even when the right lane is completely empty.

  15. Listen, when it comes to eating food with your hands there's a time and place, for example, if your eating with your friends it's fine, if your at a barbacue it's fine, if your eating charcuterie and sea food it's fine but, when it comes to restaurants it depends, some of them you can eat with your hands, like fast food restaurant, but if your not sure, the best thing you can do is check how other people are eating. It is not true that we don't eat with our hands or that we find it weird however in most "fancy" restaurants you will eat with fork and knife even if it's pizza.

  16. Really happy to see a foreigner being respectful and actually trying to learn about portuguese culture and rules. Turists mostly come here to party hard away from responsibilities and most of the time just cause trouble, lots of noise and trash and overall seem like they are the kings and queens and that we, the locals, are just background views to serve them. Its so important to travel with conscience and willing to discover and learn about the country you are traveling to. Portugal in general really likes the fact that people want to come visit, its a nice thing that we can travel the world and get to know different people. Just be aware that while you are here on vaccations, having fun, the rest of us live here everyday, are trying to go to work and live ours lives and we appeciate if you dont make that difficult for us. Thank you for the videos, its so important that you share your knowledge and create awareness for better travelling practices. Subscribed 🔥

  17. I dont mind people speaking spanish its just that i dont know spanish, i know more of english, also there are a lot of people that have difficulties with english. You can eat some stuff with your hands, pizza, hamburgers, like stuff from pizza hut or mcdonalds.
