2 Years in Portugal – My Personal Reflections

#lisbon #reflection #portugal

This week, I would like to share some reflections of my life in Lisbon, Portugal. It’s almost 2 years living in the Iberian Peninsula. The journey hasn’t been easy but I have grown a lot. Here I share my story how I began my move from Sydney, Australia to Lisbon. Will I continue staying in Lisbon? One way to find out is to watch this week’s vlog!

Hey everyone, I’m Sophian. Originally from Singapore, I am currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. Over the years, I have lived in several cities and countries included Bali, Bangkok, Dubai, Sydney, Scotland, and San Francisco.

I enjoy being the creative arena as well as my life-long love affair with food. I enjoy foods from various cultures as much as enjoy cooking. Living overseas allows me to appreciate my heritage and culture and I reconnect through cooking.

Everyone has a story to tell. My vlogs are about my life in Lisbon, Portugal (the good, the challenges, and the wonderful bits) and exploring the region. I will be sharing some insights and perspectives of this beautiful city and country including cooking when I get that saudade feeling for home. I hope you’ll stick around (:

  1. Watching this was fascinating Soph and brought back a lot of memories for me too…Finding your channel, meeting you and so forth was awesome and you have most definitely had a life changing experience moving to Portugal! The Supper Club, EVERYTHING amazes me my friend I would so love to meet you one day and who knows it just might happen!!! And by the way my long promised video based on one of your videos is happening soon!!!!

  2. I need to hear more about how you cooked for artist and humanitarian Ai Weiwei. Interesting to hear how you started your business and that it's going well. Southeast Asian cuisine is phenomenal. Hope to sit in one of your dinners next time we go to Lisboa!

  3. You've grown and learned so much these past couple of years, starting with the idea to teach Singapore cooking and linking Portuguese cuisine to it. . . Now you're collaborating with other chefs, appearing at food festivals, developing relationships with food vendors, creating themes for your monthly pop-ups and connecting people in Lisbon, both visitors and residents. No small feat, my friend! You'll continue to succeed because you're knowledgeable, curious, willing to take risks, personable, and a great communicator. Parabens! Stacy (Fan #1)

  4. I haven’t watched your videos in a while, but I always enjoy them! I have a tendency to save certain channels for binging. 😁They’re always so interesting and positive. Great job! 🏆

  5. Congratulations, Soph! It’s good to know you’ve managed to overcome all of those initial hurdles and are succeeding in developing yourself from a personal and professional perspective. Parabéns, mais do que merecidos!

  6. Thanks for sharing your story, moving from different places is such a very challenging and very interesting, was waiting on your kitchen renovation result when you are still in australia and suddenly you move to lisbon and i know it is very challenging for you.
