we are a little confused having bought and sold 5 properties in portugal since 2010 we have always had to have a fiscal number, to open a bank account also deal with tax on purchase of said properties at the time of exchange in notary, so how did you manage to buy a property without a NIF number or if you had a NIF number that is all you need to activate a bank account you do not need to prove you own a property to activate a bank account. Please also check that you may need to file each year in portugal now that you own property here regardless if you are resident or not.
