3D printed RC Jet Boat – Albufeira – Portugal

My first attempt with RC boats. This 3D printed RC Jet Boat is based on the original design by Jotham Barmentloo with slight modifications, scaled to 62% and believe it or not, the scale was done around 2 micro ceramic bearings for fishing reels that I had on the shelf in order to fit them on the shaft & hull:); unfortunately only have acess to the STL files and those don’t allow much modifications…; the boat is also inspired to reproduce the australian V8 jet boats racing, so pilot + co-pilot, engine and exhaust already printed and to be added soon.

Despite the little size, it’s running quite nice with some adjustments to be made(turning to quickly); It’s also running with a 3D jet pump/nozzle that I can adjust with mixing for better turning and also to navigate a bit better. It’s pretty fast for it’s size, on the video rarely hitted the 100% trottle, more like 60/75%. It also has a micro water pump to extract water inside. It’s fully 3D printed except for the electronics cover (laser cutted black acrylic).

I’m also almost finishing a full size version that will be about 65cm total lenght. Keep tuned 🙂 …

the screams are from my little one having a blast….and me too :))))
