  1. If you're ever in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia the graffiti and street art is one of the main attractions when visiting the inner city. Walk around and you'll never know what you'll find, they also have great hole in the wall businesses. That street art is becoming increasingly popular internationally. Graffiti has a history that goes back for centuries there's even some still around from Ancient Egypt. But of course you need to understand hieroglyphics to understand it. We don't generally wave to strangers we'll simply look at someone say "Hello!" and start talking as adults. Aussies love small talk. If someone won't reply we'll start wondering whether they might have been in a hurry or didn't notice us. Generally we're pretty easy going and understanding. It takes a lot to offend an Aussie when it comes to strangers not talking to us. Of course for safety reasons children are taught not to do that without their parents. You'd have hurt someone else with your words or actions to get us upset and we'd definitely let you know about it.

  2. Dogs don't bark all night because they're trapped, they bark if they sense someone or another animal nearby, a cat or another dog. My dog is kept in her cage outside in the backyard at night and she only barks if someone passes by on the road or if a cat enters the house's grounds. If the breed of dog is from a region with the same type of temperature, there are no problems leaving them outside, but it happens sometimes that in the news they give warnings to be careful with the animals either because of the cold or the heat.

  3. Roundabouts: if you're planning on driving in Portugal look for the specific rules like Dave said, don't look for roundabout rules in Europe because ours are different from the rest of the countries and even from the ones in the States. Smaller cities and towns don't have such a large public transport network like the bigger cities and in those places you'll need a vehicle to get around.
8:45 – That's pretty much what happens here most of the time. The situation Dave described here can happen but it's much more rare, so I don't know why he considers it a culture shock.
18:45 – That is not in Portugal, I can assure you.
20:42 – He's wrong, it doesn't apply to everything. 23% is one of three IVA tax levels, 13% and 6% are the other two.
23:35 – See? Even you know that things are not like he's saying!

I see that many of the things Dave listed are not considered "culture shocks" to you, like you're already familiar with them, so you'd be fine here. 🙂
