  1. Greetings from Braga…Booked a place for a night…The place sent me an email saying I needed to provide a digital certificate to stay…I called the place and told them that it was not required under current regulations and the person argued with me that they are following Government rules…The week before I stayed in 4 different hotels in Tabua, Oliveira do hospital, Seia and Sabugueiro, no certificate, no issues…I would say don't come to Portugal…at the moment folks here aren't capable of normal brain function…Must be all the jabs they took…😉

  2. Great tips. Am also Portuguese American and currently working on getting my Portuguese citizenship. Wife and I were on Madeira last summer and plan on visiting Azores this summer. Looking at retiring in Portugal in a year or so.

  3. Great advice – especially the one about learning a few words. When people see that you at least tried, they become much more open and willing to help as opposed to someone just speaking in English/other language and expecting to be understood.

Some things that you might want to visit may have weird opening hours/be closed for renovations (given that many are several centuries old), etc and this information might not be readily available on google maps if it's not a super popular place. So, again, keep an open mind and don't expect to tick all the boxes. Be ready to walk – uphill, a lot – and to take public transport – it might not take you to your actual destination but you end up close. I wouldn't bother with "tuk tuks" since those are not traditional at all.

  4. Thanks for the new post. My wife and I are finally getting to make our v first trip to Portugal in May. Trying to figure out transportation that will work best for us. Land in Lisbon, then staying in Sao Martinho for 5 days. Think it best to rent car or use bus/train? Then to Algarve (Alvor) for 6 days. Then to Lisbon for 2 nights. Any advice?

  5. Welcome back! I've been missing Scott and your videos on this channel. Hope your parents are all doing well, along with your daughters. Your house is starting to look more and more like a home. Finally with the pandemic starting to settle down, my long awaited trip to Portugal is almost here. I will be in Lisbon for 5 weeks exploring the City, as well as some of the outlying suburbs in possible preparations for a fulltime move to Portugal. As you've told me in our past chats, the Algarve climate is more like Dana Point (your old digs) and San Clemente (my current home), but the City has an attraction for a history major. If I can figure out a way, I'll try and pack some Tapatio for Scott, but no promises. If you have time, perhaps we can plan a meet in greet over lunch, if that's something that is allowed by YouTube. 6. It has been awhile since your last video, miss you. My suggestion to everyone who is travelling to a new country (a lot of USAmerican hardly travel outside of the state) is be open-minded, adapts the different of cultures don't be shock when other DO NOT have the same thinking as you, and stop eating the same foods as at your home country try something new.

  7. So nice to see you guys. I missed you. Today was the first time (since the history of covid in our lives) that we were able to decide if we wanted to wear a mask or not in the church building. It felt so good. Things are looking much better on the island here in Puerto Rico.
