I agree with your assesment of Bali 100%. I stayed in Canggu and after Phuket Thailand was extremely dissapointed with the beaches and infrastructure. I could not even walk anywhere safely where I stayed in Canggu and that to me rules out Bali for long term living. Driving is fine but if you can't even build safe sidewalks you have no business cramming tourists in. The roads are extremely dangerous to pedestrians. Bali's appetite for foreign money is bigger than their stomach imho. They need a major infrastructure upgrade imho. I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon with other destianations offering the same green tropical south east asian island experience but with FAR better infrastructure.
The problem with living up north or in the jungle is you don't get optical fiber there, which in Bali makes all the difference in the world.
It's not a golden visa cause it doesn't lead to citizenship
