A summer full of beaches, food, fun and sun!!!
We start off our travels and summer vacation in Alcantarilha at the Chapel of Bones, built hundreds of years ago out of the bones from the old church cemetery as the church was being renovated. Those buried in the cemetery had their bones transferred to this small chapel, lining the walls for the skulls to stare back at you. An eerie, yet enjoyable and historic experience.
The Algarve beaches are absolutely brilliant, as we travel to the world famous Marinha, Benagil, Armacao and Paraiso beaches for some fun, relaxation and sun in the crystal smooth water. The arch formations built of limestone in the waters off Marinha are impressive and are used in many advertisements around the globe, while the limestone caves of Benagil take your breath away – especially after braving the currents to swim to the cave.
The cliff jumping at Benagil is always a good time, too! In this video we attempt quite a few jumps.
For a change of pace one day we explore the Krazy World zoo and interact with a bunch of animals, including goats (which you can feed), alligators (which you shouldn’t feed unless your kid is really acting up) and a plethora of other wildlife!!
We also took up geochaching this summer, a preferable alternative to Pokeman Go, which was all the craze in the summer of 2016. Plenty of food, plenty of fun, plenty of beach time and plenty of sun!!!
