My parents' attic looked just like that, but when my sister renovated the whole house, she turned that attic into a lovely guest room. On the ground floor what used to be the storage and to keep animals is now open kitchen, dining room and living room and library with French doors and a powder room. The floor above where the bedrooms are, there is 2 full bathrooms, and a shower/powder room in the attic guest bathroom. If my parents were alive today, my father would freak out, his oh so Portuguese house has been transformed.
