When I started researching Portugal to prepare for our trip Benagil just kept popping up as a must see. Travel bloggers, travel enthusiasts, in Instagram, Pinterest etc. Now I know why.

1st of all you can only go here 4 ways. You can swim the very cold and not so calm ocean. I read it’s about 200 meters. You can also join a boat tour which initially was our choice. However the boat is not allowed to disembark so you can only take pictures from the boat. You can also rent a kayak or stand up paddle.

Greg and I are not swimmers AT ALL but we’re also dying to see this place. So what we did is go through Viator.com to book a 2 hour kayaking tour. We’ve used Viator many times to book travel activities in other countries. We haven’t been disappointed yet. This time was no different. We felt safer with a tour guide and someone who can rescue us if something goes wrong.

I’m very happy with the videos and pictures we took but they don’t do justice to this beautiful and famous sea cave.
