Due to passport issues, one woman had to leave her husband and son at the check-in counter at Leeds Bradford Airport. Despite having a six-month passport, she was refused entry.

Apparently once your passport date is no longer valid ,neither is the person it relates too ,you become an undocumented alien, another money making racket, I believe this woman was born in Portugal and so has been denied her right to enter her own native country, while the Portuguese embassy hand out passports to Brazilian and non nationals and send them off to the UK
Anyone going abroad , or living abroad, should do their homework, or suffer the consequences. Common sense.
As with everything don't blame others.
3rd country status. 🤷🏻♂️
Yet more than and more likely to crap from the the sad E little bit cry babies
Brexit is not freedom in a such, 90 days going into Europe, and coming back into Brexit Britain to wait a never, 6 months wait for a never Europe holiday.
To put it into nutshell…Anna is totally IGNORANT.
UK is a 3rd country now and has to follow the rules. You have to educate yourself BEFORE traveling, a matter of course.
The passport rules are NOT airline specific…ridiculous!!!!
You have to follow the rules of PORTUGAL for 3rd countries because EU member states are sovereign countries.
When I renewed my passport there was almost 1 year still left on the old passport and you were allowed to carry 9 months of that onto the new passport but once we left the EU those extra months were no longer valid. We could also travel to and from the other EU countries on an ID card but that too was scrapped by the Tories when they came into power. Here we are in 2022 and we all carry some form of ID whether its a credit card, bus pass etc. I still retain my driving licence even though I no longer drive, as with its photo it serves as a useful ID when I am asked in a bank or post office to produce some form of ID.
Typical British attitude: never mind the rules, I am so exceptional! What you describe can happen to any EU citizen travelling far away. Your passport type and validity MUST COMPLY with RULES (Airline and destination country rules). Seems that "we are not rule takers is not working.
ALCATRAZ
The rules do not vary per airline, since it is the EU who determines passport validity, not the airline.
This is international law. Nothing to do with Brexit – except that we are now governed by general international laws rather than the privileged EU laws under which we used to operate
I've always understood that a passport must be valid for 6 months for the whole of the duration of the trip. The airline is only protecting themselves from having to carry passengers back if they are refused entry.
Befor the pandemic I used to fly to countrys outside EU at least two times a year.
One need a passport that is valid 6 months after ones entry day, its a very comon rule.
If you are going to travel you always check the passport if you did not it is on you
