I’ve finally started to build out my tiny house kitchen here in my off grid barn conversion in Central Portugal! It”s been a long time coming, let me tell you!
I can’t stand the clutter anymore… I’ve reached my capacity for having crap in mysterious boxes all over the place and it’s time to design and build my kitchen units. I’m starting small with a pantry shelf but it’ll be a massive improvement and will give me a lot of needed storage space so I can’t wait to get it done!
I’ll be building it with a combination of hand and power tools using Douglas fir to fit in with the mezzanine structure I’ve already built. I also need to plaster one of the shelf walls with lime before I can go too far with the carpentry, so this video has a few different construction techniques on the go.
I got a bit carried away with filming and the video has become huge so I divided it into two parts. This is my first building project video and I’d love feedback on what you like or don’t like so I can keep improving! Too long? Too short? Too details? Not enough details? Etc etc… thanks!
Please leave me a comment with any advice or questions or whatever and, as always, thanks for watching!
Oh and it’s July 1st today… happy Canada Day and happy Rwandan Independence Day!

You're making progress and I am impressed by your skills! Just an FYI as to your description of the condition of your small home. As it is a small home, clutter is bound to happen. "Hoarding" is defined as the inability to freely use the common areas due to the amount of items in the primary rooms of the home "Squalor" is living like a pig – in filthy conditions. So, no – you do not live in squalor. Hope that helps!
You not have husband. Your doing alone ,,bjs boa sorte 👍🍀 do.Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦💋💋para pt ,,🇵🇹🇵🇹
Well done Kirsty, that's pretty impressive rendering. Nice sponge finish.

The Dutch Farmer has recently moved to Portugal and is creating a 2ha permaculture homestead. He was farming commercially on rented land in France. His channel and website are very informative, might be useful for you Kirsty.
Thanks for the awesome videos. Could you please let me know if you used an agent to find your land? In 2 weeks I will be around Fundao looking for a new home similar to what you have there.
Love that gadget you have for blending the lime & sand. Saves a lot of elbow grease!
Your doing great👍
You are amazing. I am in admiration of your guts and determination. We’ll done.
Greetings from Bulgaria! I have been enjoying your work since the beginning of your channel. you are perfect in everything! congrats on the humor too. I love you, I'm looking forward to a new video – you radiate positivity and positive energy. I wish you health and inspiration!
Love watching your videos and progress – what plans have you for getting more light into your home ? Sorry if you already covered this ? 👍🏼
I luv this it was very interesting
Hi from Bulgaria its like a parallel universe I have a wobbly green plastic table and probably 30 plastic storage containers, I opted to concentrate on the house first and second the garden, I seem to have about 100 cables for phone chargers, printers, scart leads, keyboards………I do enjoy rooting in the containers.
I love your long bladed handsaws. Could you put a link to where I could buy them? Thanks and keep up the good work. Força!💪🏾💪🏾
Your videos are just perfect, I really enjoy you progress your doing great
Great job! Love your videos.
Although I have never plastered before, I venture to say that it looks pretty good (and I have looked at plenty of plaster 😉). What is your thought process about doing up to the line and not the whole wall?
It looks real good Kirsty. Quick question? When its dry is it really hard the render? And is it water proof as is?
YOU'RE GETTING THE HANG OF IT!…LOOKING FORWARD TO PART 2…🙏;)
"So I got the creepy bottle back. Not just for murdering aphids…." Classic!
Great videos. You are putting huge effort and it is appropriated .Great sense of humor. Happy Canada Day from Kamloops BC.
That wall is looking great. I can't wait for part 2. Your videos are very interesting.
Your way of laughing at yourself cracks me up…."living in squalor" is a phrase my sister & I use often. Love your videos….authentic in our at times fake world… 👍
Good onya girl you did a good job I await the finished shelves. Your little house is coming on beaut.
Neat wall! Looking good.
I enjoy your humor and make it work attitude ❣️❣️❣️
New subscriber here! It is so exciting to watch you work on your tiny home. The plaster work you did looks great. Look forward to your upcoming videos.
Well done with the plastering! I use a small block of cork for smoothing over. A sponge tends to bring the sand to the surface.
