Can I TILE a WALL? / My Off-grid Life in Central Portugal

Not spending a large part of the day fetching and carrying water for the pigs means that I have more time and energy for other projects. I get stuck into the kitchen, doing some tiling and making a start on the cordwood wall.
Thanks to all who bought the pigs a watermelon and gave a Super Thanks!

  1. The backsplash and counter look wonderful. It is becoming a very Portuguese space for you. Congratulations on your progress! I do suggest you seal the grout with a grout sealer as it will help it to not stain and keep that just done look.

  2. my mother & grandfather loved history; both were antique dealers. Love the original tiles in your home. They are Beautiful! So Glad Mellopuff is better brings me joy knowing she's eating agian. Kunei Kunei adventures are so much fun lol. (as u said not at the moment it happened) Your plumber was a true gift because you're looking less stressed as prior comments your eyes have a light, a sparkle in them. His hat will bring magic and luck. For me, I enjoy DIY projects. just wondering since pigs have the intelligence of a 5 yr old, & since they love to root, perhaps they are a bit bored, what about some toys for them to play with. I have shared with family your content. Wondering channels like Nick & Andria, Sara & Luke, would be willing to put your link on their channels it may help boost subscribers …. with warmth & kindness for you. You are an inspiration!

  5. We were in our 60's When we tiled the whole house with me doing the tiles laying and my husbend mixed the cement and the grouting mix. If you have any grout left on the tiles, just take it off wit a metal spatula. To do the floors, I attached the spatula to a broom stick with duct tape and did all the scraping without bending down. Worked like a charm.

  6. A farmer had 5 female pigs. Times were hard, so he decided to take them to the county fair and sell
    them.
At the fair, he met another farmer who owned five male pigs.
After talking a bit, they decided to mate the pigs and split everything 50/50.
The farmers lived sixty miles apart, so they agreed to drive thirty miles each and find a field in which to let the pigs mate.
The first morning, the farmer with the female pigs got up at 5 A.M., loaded the pigs into the family station wagon, (which was the only vehicle he had) and drove the thirty miles.
While the pigs were mating, he asked the other farmer, "How will I know if they are pregnant?"
The other farmer replied, "If they're lying in the grass tomorrow morning, They're pregnant. If they're in the mud, they're not."
The next morning the pigs were rolling in the mud, so he hosed them off, loaded them into the family station wagon again and proceeded to try again.
This continued each morning for more than a week and both farmers were worn out.
The next morning he was too tired to get out of bed.
He called to his wife, "Honey, please look outside and tell me whether the pigs are in the mud or in the grass."
"Neither," yelled his wife, "they're in the station wagon and one of them is honking the horn." I found this very funny hope you do to

  7. Hi Cindy kitchen looking great you'll sleep like a log after all that hard work 😴 those pigs are funny copying the dogs with their little tails wagging and laying on the kitchen floor. We are supposed to have rain this weekend and thunder storm, the ground is so dry, take care Cindy ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  8. Cindy, your tiling looks lovely and cheery! Some pretty Portuguese fabric would look gorgeous under your new worktop once your renovations are further along!
Your piggy bathroom story reminded me what it’s like having little children around you and not a moments peace to yourself!🤣
Have a good week, Laura 🐖🐖🐖
