Cost of living Portugal (Algarve) 2022. In this video, we will break down our cost of living in the Algarve Portugal for two months. We lived in the Algarve during the months of May and June in 2022. This is typically a time of year when you see the pricing start to jump up for the summer season. Did we still find that this area was an affordable place to live? We will share with you all our monthly expenses from Rent, Groceries, and Entertainment, as well as some medical and dental expenses.

We spent two months in the Algarve, exploring from the east to the west coast, one month in Lagos, and another in Cabanas de Tavira. Each city offered something a bit different and we will break down the cost differences for each location.

As we wrap up our time in the Algarve – what was your favorite video in this series? If you haven't already, be sure to check out last week's video where we go over the pros and cons of all the places we visited in the Algarve. Watch Here: https://youtu.be/CgljfAtydiM
I am hooked on your videos. My wife and I are planning a trip to Portugal next year. Safe travels and cheers to good health.
Your channel is so helpful 😍🥰😘
Sounds like you need more Netflix shows to watch. I liked a show called DARK. Carmel Likes stranger things. A must is Umbrella Academy. If you like sci-fi. OK, have a great week you two. Don't break anymore teeth.
Let me know if I bug you too much. But I got to thinking when the weathers nice you guys have hardly any baggage what it would be like to hop on mopeds scooters or motorcycle type vehicle rentals. The car seem like they could potentially be a little higher budgetary wise but you could almost buy a cheap scooter and even do two up riding, both of you on the same bike. Or even just bicycles.
The USD is almost at parity with the Euro. This should make your cost of living cheaper in upcoming months.
Great show again!
Big ups
Another informative and useful video. Much appreciated! 🙂 Cheers! 🍻
Omg!! I love your Lagos place:) I am headed there the first week if August. My rental will be $2500 for the week! Never in my life. If you send me the name of that place, I could rent for all of August. Love your videos.
groceries of 628$, for 2 months, for two people? with booze? with going out >2 times? I have no clue how you do it. with the more significant half, if we wrap it up in under 160 per WEEK (home cooking, no ordering out, no tv diners) I'd say that sucess (alicante area). btw we talk groceries – so tp, toothpaste, detergent, etc. is a separate expenditure. either I got all wrong, or you are on a sunshine and rainwater diet 😉
Sun hat is a wonderful and necessary thing on a hot summer. 👒
Pretty affordable for close to summer peak.
just an FYI, its pronounced cuh-BA-nush (the non-stressed a's sound like uh , and an s at the end of a word gives a sh sound)
Another great video. I can’t believe how inexpensive the dentist is. Just a cleaning at my dentist is $263 and repairing a cracked tooth is over $2000. (NYC). If you need eyeglasses or contacts wait until you go to Asia (if that is in your plans). Singapore and Hong Kong are the cheapest places for glasses and contacts. What type of shows do you like? We watch a lot of Netflix and can make suggestions. As always thanks for all of your invaluable information and sharing your stories.
Do you guys have plans to visit central and northern Portugal at any point? Coimbra perhaps? I enjoy your vids, keep up the good work!
Good video.
We realized we’re not beach people. It looks so hot 🥵 and the pace is much slower.
Beside Netflix, any libraries of local activities you can access, thanks to the AirBnB owner? Library cards, city pool, etc. would be nice to have… I actually just discovered that one of the city pool in my neighborhood was free!!!
How do you manage your Euro visa? I thought 3m stay was the maximum stay at once (and 6m per year total).
You should have go ahead with kayaking 😉
Good insight thx. But you have literally a cheap budget only a collage student would consider. What is the point to be on vaccine and be so cheap.. Well, to each it’s own.
Hey guys! Great wrap-up! Brian, did the cost for dental include a crown, or was it repaired another way? Wow…so cheap compared to here in the states! Can't wait to see your vids from Romania, where in Romania are you? It looks beautiful there from what I've been seeing online. Do you guys have any plan to visit Turkey, mainly Antalya?? We've been researching that area as well and the cost of living is extremely low as is the real estate & many new developments being built there. So many choices and so many beautiful places in the world!!! Have a great time in Romania!
Nice video, thank you! Can't wait for our departure day, which is September 2nd. Flying to Valencia and will spend the whole 90 days in Spain. Got VPN, thanks to you! Still keeping the house and the car, but it might change after our trip. So excited! We'll be staying in 4 cities during our Spain trip, so when we move from place to place, do we need to purchase train tickets in advance?
This was my favorite video so far since I’m looking to immigrate to Portugal. Cabanas and Tavira are my first choices. I hadn’t considered Lagos till now but after watching your video, I’m thinking that it might be more convenient for daily living. Just easier, maybe. Any suggestions? Our life style is pretty much like yours generally speaking. Thanks !
Thanks for another great video and all the extra insights!
Hi Brian and Carrie, when you guys left the US, did you do a one -way flight? or do you have an open ended return flight for when you come back to visit?
Hi Brain and Carrie,
Nice to see you both on video again. Thank you for touching on the question of prescription supplies. On the subject of public transportation, do you prefer bus over train since the bus is more reliable? Do you use a prepaid card or cash? Do you need to prepare the right amount of cash? In terms of phone plan for international use, I found T-mobile US plan covers quite a lot daily needs with no extra charge, including discount for age 55+, free Data & texting abroad, and Netflix. Hope this helps.
Portimão, Portugal I have one place pinned to visit. The racetrack. I’m a track day addict. Love to hop in the track’s cars and go fast! Yes, be careful with too much sun. You guys really account for your expenditures very well. US medical is ripoff. For the most part. My eyeglasses here cost me $1600 3 years ago!!!
