In today’s travel vlog, I discuss the Don’ts of Portugal a continuation of my 10 Things to Never Do in Portugal and Don’ts of Portugal video I released yesterday.
If you’d like to see Part 1 of Don’ts of Portugal – please click here:
Here are the next 5 Dont’s of Portugal a continuation of 10 Things to Never Do in Portugal. Let me know what you think in the comments.
6 – Never wear high heels! Most Portuguese towns and especially Lisbon, have nothing but cobblestone streets and walkways. And most of the streets in Lisbon are huge hills. You’ll definitely be struggling in heels. Oh and when it’s wet, forget about it. It’s hard enough to walk in normal shoes when the cobblestone is wet. Ladies you’re going to break an ankle! Don’t wear high heels in Portugal.
7 – Don’t order a Pint. The Portuguese like their drinks fresh – so they order 20 centiliter drinks called a Mini. These are basically a half pint since a pint is about 47 centiliters.
8 – Never go to the club before midnight. Night life doesn’t start until around 1am!!! And it goes until like 7 or 8 am the next morning.
9 – Never drink Port wine with your meal. The Portuguese don’t drink port wine with meals, it’s usually reserved for festive occasions and holidays.
10 – Never put ketchup or mustard on food you get from a Restaurant. The Portuguese find this offensive. This especially applies to traditional food – definitely don’t put condiments on traditional food unless it’s provided with the dish.

It is same go to clubs in Brazil late at night because like do in Rio de Janeiro, especially the muggings and kidnappings do not do alone at night after midnight 🕛 and it is nor safe late at night at the clubs in Brazil.🇧🇷
I don't agree with what you said abou the Port wine. Specially in the north of Portugal Port wine is served before and after the meals. Also with cheese and deserts.
The last one is true, I love katshup and maionese but I would never put that on restaurant food, expecially on tradicional food. They don´t even put those in the table. Knowing that foreigns could even think of putting those on our traditional food makes me angry 😂😂😂
i am portuguese and im gonna be honest there are some things in this and in part1 that i dont agree im from porto not lisbon though but good video bro
11- If you are in a Fado concert or a Fado house don´t make noise while fadista is singing some may see you as disrespectful
Port wine can be taken as dessert, it's also used in the confection of some desserts as well.
Okay but why the hell was this two parts 🤦
No one in the world drinks Porto wine along the meal. At the meal, you drink as an appetizer before, or as a digestive after meal.
Wait so in other places clubs start BEFORE midnight?!!!!
“Zeeee” haha
But yea cool video man 🇵🇹
continuing from the previous video…
6- this is more of a practical tip. But yes, forget wearing high heels unless you're going to a party and you know you won't be walking much through the streets. Lots of cobblestone sidewalks. Fortunately a few places are now working on implementing an extra layer on top of the cobblestone, which makes it walkable for people using high heels but don't except it everywhere.
7- eeeh… subjective. We definitely prefer Minis and finos/imperiais, but nothing wrong with ordering something pint-sized. It's unusual, but not a "don't do this" sort of thing, especially if you don't mind your beer losing its cool.
8- can confirm. Night life starts really late around here. A few bars do open during the afternoon and stay open until 3.4 a.m. though, so there's that alternative. Will depend on the region and city/town.
9- Confirmed. Port wine Works the same as any other spirits. You either drink it after you're done with your meal, or have a glass in the afternoon or evening.
10- yeah… don't do that, unless you ordered it and are eating it at home ahah! The restaurants will provide whatever you need.
Lucky for me, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, I don't do nightclubs or bars, I don't hang out with gangs, so really, I should have no issues going to this place. Oh, btw, how come that lisbon seems to be the only topic people talk about?
Portuguese here, i laughed my ass off when he said Z instead of Zé xD idk it was so funny
Yup thats mostly right.
Only wear heels if you are going to a restaurant at night and have a car or uber. if you want to walk in the cities, never ever wear heels.
The clubs thing is right too, what you should do in Portugal is: go to bars first, have some drinks with friends and only enter the clubs after midnight. We do that "Bar first, club after" a lot here.
2:30 I don't get offend… it's strange to me… but it's your mouth not mine
A LOT of the tips here are helpful but the beer and sauces ones are not right. But overall great work
2:30 Hmmm… That's not true!
For anyone planning of coming:
Don't worry to much about these things… It's true that we laugh a lot at the foreigners putting ketchup all over their meals or drinking beer from mugs, but at the end of the day we only do it to pass the time. (But if you want the full portuguese experience, then yes, don't drink warm beer). Also, the biggest way to offend a portuguese person is speaking spanish. Please speak english! thank youuu
1. True!
2. I don’t say anything
3. I didn’t know that-
Ur channel is the best!!
By: a kid ???
11- don't speak spanish
12— don't be a pain-in-the-ass if you order sardines and are served to you with bones
13— don't expect to order a coffee (café) and get a 'bucket (mug) full of coffee'
How interesting about the sauce!!!
me walking in plataforms on a hill while raining: i dont see the problem i do it fine<
11 Don't came here to eat fast food, try our local dishes.
Let me correct u, is true about ketchups and mustards in our local dishes, but if the dish as french fries, is ok, to put on the fries, and in Bifana.
Never say Messi is best football player in the world
Port wine is to be taken after the meal
Great video
Pretty accurate
Coming from the first part! Let's see how you fair on this one 😛
Sixth one… do i need to talk bout this one? never wear high heels in a place you don't feel comfortable. Not all places are like the ones you discribe and its just absurd to presume that. In every country you can think of, there will be places where you shouldn't use high heels! Most women i know go out with high heels and don't complain at all…
Seventh… XD your experience really was on Lisbon… come to Porto and talk about pints LOLOOLOL. I drink ONLY pints (i drink too fast to normal beer glasses lol ), there are special pints on some places! metal ones that are kept on the freezer, ceramic ones for some special beers etc… its just wrong to say that from being in Lisbon.
Eight… REALLYY!!!! we have clubs open since 6pm!!!! some open after 10pm, some afte 00 am and some even after 2 am…. you just have to know where to go (as for every country you go lol)
Ninth… ill just say this: never order Whiskey with your meal….(has nothing to do with what you said, its a 20% or more alcohol drink so it is not something to drink with the meal it more of an aperitif unless you want get drunk as hell while you eat)
Tenth: ??? don't know where you are from… but i guess when someone is eating a traditional food ANYWHERE in the world they don't like if you mess it up! Imagine putting Ketchup on Suchi… it's stupid isnt it? I put sauces on many food that i eat every day,but not on something that is simply dumb to do it!
PS:FYI its not Zee it sounds more like Zeh 😉
Mini usually comes in a bottle 😉 we call FINO (in Lisbon IMPERIAL) to the small glasses of cold beer. I loved your tips, great!!!
Life in Portugal
10 things that aren't true…
So true
Being half portuguese myself (American ) I enjoyed this. My Mother, whose ancestors are from the Azores Islands, traveled there years ago. She told me about the bread being charged issue. So they made the most of it, and on the next meal, that was all they ordered!
No 10 is not true! I usually ask for mustard to go in my prego! I like mayo in my chips too! Ask for any sauces you want, it will be ok! 👍🏻
Ahah… Mostly true. And definitely don't say "gracias"! But putting some extra sauce is acceptable unless you're ordering some house specialty. Now what you must do: Try "francesinha" (food) in Porto. 😛 Happy travels
I'm going to wear stilettos while drinking a full pitcher of beer mixed with port wine, ketchup and mustard while making my way to the club at 7pm!
I left my heels back in the States.
GUYS HELP HE IS GETTING HIT BY A TRAIN!!!!!
No high heels?! 👠
I NEVER went to a club before midnight!
👍🌍👣
I definitely agree on not bringing high heels to Lisbon! It's all cobblestone streets! 🙂
Dude, I thought you were standing in front of a green screen for some reason… and then boom you grabbed the camera and blew my mind.
Haha I'll have to keep number 10 in mind for when I'm over there, I love to put a bit of extra sauce (ketchup/mayo) on my food 😂
Thanks again for another interesting video 👍
