Dover traffic: ‘Critical incident’ declared as people face seven-hour queues

Passengers travelling from Dover must have their passports checked before they sail by French border staff.

A shortage of those staff coupled with the beginning of the school holidays created the perfect storm that led to people waiting up to seven hours in their cars.

A “critical incident” was declared, and a blame game was underway with the authorities in Dover adamant that the fault lay with the French.

  4. Brexit was for the poor who can't travel abroad anyways and for the super rich who have their private jets. It was a ploy by them to stick a middle finger to everyone in the middle. It seems to be working.

  6. It's obvious we will be heading back into the EU in time, piece by piece (Scotland), integrated trade deals at a time. Brexit is just the one last hurrah of sillyness from Britain, before the inevitable dawns on them. It's coming brexiteers, you can bleat and baaah, but it's coming. When we do join, it will be full complete integration, merge, subsumed, absorbed into the one true society, the European Federation complete with one monetary policy, one in sync multi ethnic military force. The young people want this, and what they want, they will get. 😃

Why is our Government not preparing The whole Nation, for the New Biometric Passport checks coming in September, This is what the EU going to introduce from September 2022., This means if you travel by Car, you actually have to get out of your Car, and in to a Building, for Face-recognition, and Fingerprints, if you travel by Air, it will be just another check !!!!!

  22. I blame everyone,except myself,for everything that is happening everywhere.Its an absolute disgrace and something must be done immediately to rectify this appalling situation. I sent a strongly worded letter to somebody years ago warning of this fiasco and now it has come to pass.I'm leaving this country immediately – by dinghy ! Lets employ people smugglers to get out .

  31. There is nothing the UK governemnt can do about it because it's the French side requiring these checks. This is just how's thing going to be in the future, unless the French reduce the checks or increase capacities of its broder.

  36. There is an idea. What if UK join some type of group of countries that support eachother and allowed you to freely travel whenever you want. You know… some type of union.
