Dramatic Azores – Coastal Village of Baixa day trip – Pico Island, Portugal – Ep 93

Hi Guys!

Come and spend the day wit us on one of the most quaint coastal villages/aldeas on Pico Island. This area of Pico is part of the village of Ribeirinha, located about 20 minutes from one of the main villages of Pico; Lajes and about 15 minutes from another town of Sao Roque.

Baixa is rural, quaint, quite, friendly and peaceful. This area is made up of adegas(wine houses), vacation homes, fishing port, swimming area and a church.

This coastal area of Pico Island is incredibly dramatic, a perfect way to describe it. We also visited a friend of ours that was born here, but now lives in Canada.

Baixa is a must visit while on the island; a cool place to spend the day, a week or more.
We hope you enjoyed spending this day in Baixa with us.

  1. Love this video, the views of São Jorge are incredible, that's why we love staying on the northern side of Pico. I remember watching several whales swimming in the channel between the two islands. Keep these amazing out-and-about videos coming 😊

  2. Great video, love all the blues of the water and all the different greens it's fantastic ,what a cute village love the old style stone home's and the water holes so pretty. Thanks for taking us along on your site seeing journey..Take care..

  3. … that blue ocean … those amazing waves , what a spot !!! What a view !!! … I am gonna keep saying ., love these vlogs I wish you were on daily … hugs to you both Carlos & Laura xox

  4. Thanks for the video of the baixa. I knew I recognized the strange pine tree along the road. My relatives have adegas in the baixa. If you're around in August they have a Festa do Piexe for the month. The trail marks go up to the main village, tons of trails everywhere.

  5. My mother and her family is from the Baixa, the houses before the port were originally used for salt storage brought in by boat. The trail leading up from the port was the original way to the water before the road was constructed. I have returned to the Baixa 6 times and spend 6 to 7 weeks with the family and spear fish with my son. We have visited 6 of the islands, my father is from Horta Faial and I'm hoping to build a vacation home in the Baixa on a piece of waterfront property that was left to me by my grandmother. Love all your videos and looking forward to more, thank you

  6. Walking down is way better than walking up. Gorgeous. They have a festa called “Festa do chicharro “ in the summer. All day entertainment and a dinner . Soo fun.

  7. Once again great video seeing the north side of the island and looking across the ocean and seeing island of Sao Jorge beautiful blue wave's and the greenery of the background of the island sometimes you just have to stop slow down and look around and smell the roses around you . Thank you God bless 🙏

  8. The beautiful people who live on the north side of Pico enjoy that privileged view of São Jorge Island, which is truly spectacular day and night. However, what we have on the south side, I think, is much better because we have sunnier weather than they do. 😉 I am biased because we love our home in São Mateus. Another amazing video with awesome views!
