8:07 Looking at Gotham from this shot shows us that it pretty much sits below the surface of the river, hence why the city gets submerged underwater at the climax of the movie after Riddler bombs the floodgates. And I'm left to wonder; was Gotham City like this in the comics or was it set up like this specifically just for the final act of the film?

8:12 also another thing about that criticism, I think the Nolan movies did the best job of explaining it, Bruce’s parents already tried helping the city with their wealth and influence, and look where it got them. Batman is more than just a silly way to stoke Bruce’s ego. Unlike the police and other authority figures in Gotham, Batman is incorruptible, and is much more direct than Gotham’s broken legal system.
