  1. Hi Monique, Hi Doug, here my husband and I follow every of your full of life and hopeful videos, we’ve seen a lot about Madeira, but your home is a dream ! God bless you for sharing and may you both be always happy and healthy. My husband is a DIY loving a garage, he wonder about garage details. Your balcony is beyond peaceful and spectacular. Love the planters. Thank you for sharing your wonderful vibes and positive energy to the rest of the world. Hope we can meet you one day 😊🫶🏻

  2. We just have a couple of days left in our first wonderful week in Madeira. We wanted to give you much thanks for your videos, as they’ve been a key part of our research for this trip and goal of moving here in the future after our kids are through college. As we drove from the airport to get to where we’re staying in Tabua, I told my wife, “Hey, they live in this area!” when I recognized the same angle looking across Funchal. It’s been a truly magical week. We’re looking forward to watching your channel in the years to come.

  3. How wonderful to be growing your own veggies and herbs! Your place is beautiful and we love the terrace view. Thank you Doug & Monique for the all of the inspiration shared in your videos as we are on our way to moving to Madeira full time! Denise & Paul

  4. Life seems so relaxing there. When I watch your video I just keep thinking how I need to leave Vancouver, Canada asap. You never get that relaxing feeling living here. It's chaos. 🤪😭 The garden looks awesome by the way!

  5. We have been following and enjoying your journey, and had to come to Madeira to see for ourselves. The place we are renting is up in Monte…quite the drive up into the hills above Funchal, but with a stunning view over the bay. Just retired and want to spend more time in Europe, although t is not easy finding someone to show property here. We will be back in April to continue our search on the island…Cámara de Lobos is also appealing, a little further away from Funchal.

  6. Hello Doug & Monique, really enjoyed this video and really am looking forward to our “scouting” trip to Madeira which will probably not be until 2024, my wife Annette & I really enjoy your videos and you continue to inspire us to keep saving for our retirement in Madeira.

  7. hey great that you grow so much! 🤗 in a previous video you once told about another plant on your balcony. I'm not sure, was that lemon? how did it develop?

  8. You two just kill me with these videos. I'm almost unhappy that we are heading to Lisbon and Porto in 3 weeks rather than Madeira. TAP is offering some insane roundtrip fares from Chicago to Lisbon to Funchal in January and February ($375-400 per person) but I don't think I could convince my better half to head across the pond again that soon.

  9. We were just talking this morning on our walk, wondering how much of the year gardening can be done there. Here in Colorado we're shutting down our garden for the season. I'm looking forward to experiencing gardening (even if it's just terrace gardening) in a place with a much longer growing season.

  10. A lovely Zen video. I appreciate the combo of silence, talk, text and occasional low-key music. I will be downsizing from a big outside garden to a terrace garden when I get there, so very helpful and inspiring. Thank you.

  11. I had a huge veggie garden in France and even had a small terrace one in Lisbon…Clearing out the garden at our new house to start fresh in the spring! Growing your own veggies is so rewarding! I grew tomatillos especially because I couldn't find them in France. Not sure how experienced you are, but green beans and strawberries are so easy…In addition to tomatoes! Good luck and happy picking your meals!!!

  12. Good afternoon Doug & Monique😃 Thank you for your hors d’hoeuvre🥗 Going back to Madeira yet again on Monday. Stay safe. Fall greetings from Denmark – Merete 🇺🇸🇩🇰🇵🇹
